Default Getting Started

I have played with friends for years now. Off and on, I am currently 25 years old and would like to get into some competitions and stuff. Is there any step that you guess can tell me would help me out. Idk how to determine what level I am or anything. I am from Kansas City, MO.

Thanks!

Best way to start is to just sign up for a local USTA tournament. Judging by your description of play, I would say start at the NTRP 3.0 level.
If you're not ready for an actual tournament, I suggest signing up for a league at the suggested level.

I have a friend in KC who was at one time a member here and really liked it (he has moved though so I don't know what it is like currently). He took me to play there with him about ten years ago and the courts were well kept and well lit.

I Googled Kansas City Tennis and about 6 different clubs popped up on the first page. Now at 25 you likely cannot afford a posh country club, but I bet 1 or more of those clubs have clinics and pay as you go opportunities.

I would call or stop into one of those clubs. You will find that they will be pretty helpful. The staff probably know where locally you can find like minded and similar players. Once you have made a couple connections with tennis locals you will find it is pretty easy to find a place to play.
