Default figure out reference tension

How can I tell how much more tension I'll get if I string the mains and crosses different?

I know if I string @ 50lbs crosses and mains, reference tension is more or less 50 lbs.

If I string crosses @ 48lbs and mains @ 50lbs, then the reference tension goes down, right? If I string crosses @ 52lbs, tension goes up? but buy how much?

What I mean is, if I want a reference tension of 52 lbs, but want to string mains and crosses different tensions (crosses tighter), what combination will get me 52 lbs?

I know i can't string the mains at 52, they must be lower than that, since a tighter cross pattern will up the tension. Would 50/52 get it? 48/52?

+1

Typically you'll get the average tension of the two, depending on the string.

Simplify your life, and have a more meaningful measurement, by using DT as your reference point.

Totally depends on the strings. Some I need to go -2 on the crosses and others -1, just a matter of going with what feels the best...like tbuggle and Lakers4Life said.
