Default Temperature & String Tension?

How much do you adjust your string tension during the winter months? My regular tension is 52/48 for gut/poly hybird during the warmer months in a Prestige-IG Pro. Pacific Classic Gut/ Signum Pro Tornado or Hyperion as a hybird. Would dropping 2lbs. in the mains and crosses be enough. Thanks....

Usual is in my sig. My winter time is 45lb and below. I drop quite a lot.... Then again, i barely play in winter. Only indoor courts which takes forever to reserve.

As the weather begins to drop while I'm still hitting outside I string with nylon crosses. However, as I move into the indoor season, I go back to full poly.

I've played in 40 plus weather. My nylon string became stiff and had no feedback on impact. It would take almost 1 hr of hitting to "soften" it. Now I switch to full gut if I have to play in the cold.

Playing indoors during the winter, should I still lower my tensions from my summer tension? Honestly, I'm losing track of what of what my summer vs. winter tension is since I've been trying so many different setups.

How cold is this winter in your neighborhood?

I should rather ask how much temperature difference forced you to drop 20 lbs?

Not too cold, compared to other areas around the world, but the difference is about 25-40 degrees Fahrenheit playing outdoors.

Last winter I experienced arm discomfort so I dropped it by 7 lbs and still no luck, so I thought I'd take a drastic measure this winter.

It worked. No discomfort and still good control.

I have to bump my tension by a couple of pounds in summer. I've found this year with a fair bit of travelling between cooler and tropical climates that the difference is significant.

Living in SoCal, temps drop from the 80s-90s in the early Fall to the 50s-60s in the Winter - certainly, I don't imagine a lot of players are out there playing when in the 40s or the snow, but I am sure there are.

That said, in temps in the 50s-mid60s I drop my tension a 2-4 lbs. As the temps rise, so does my tension.

Hey man, I forgot to respond to your e-mail. I only have 1 set of Dynamite that I plan to use in a full bed.

As for string tension, I'm down at 50 pounds and it was 82 degrees here yesterday. Cold front is coming through today, only a high of 60. Hope my strings have enough pop today.

No problemo, I ordered both the 16 and 17 Dynamite to try as a cross, thinking hybrid is the way to go through the winter. Temp 40's here today with 20mph gusts..brrr

Big Kahuna- I play the Head-Prestige IG Pro and use your recommended tension of 52/48 during the summer months, plays great. A few days ago had a few racquets strung up @50/46 with the weather @50*. Currently using Pacific-Classic Gut/ Signum Pro- Hyperion, wasn't to fond of Co-Focus. Thanks.........PS-I reside in Nothern California.

I increase tension in the winter for greater control. I play on indoor HC and the groundstrokes/serves come a lot faster indoors so less power helps. Outdoors you have wind and other conditions that slow down the pace of shots.

Indoors the club is cold and Ive inverted my normal setup, no using Toughgut 16L in the mains and Silverstring 1.2 the cross. It seems to help a bit. Ive also dropped the tension about 3lbs.

my racquet's tension recommendation is 55 to 60.......the stringer said if the string isn't nylon then you can string it higher or lower than that..is that true? if it is true then how much higher/lower can you string it? my string is yonex poly tour spin
