Default Sleep and Neck Spasms

When I was young, it did not matter if I used a pillow or not. But as I grew older, my neck has become picky. I have to sleep in a certain position with pillow in a certain position or else I suffer with neck spasm for two days. Why is that so?

Do you use a pillow or not? In what position do you sleep to prevent neck spasms? On your back or to your side?

Could be arthritis in the neck, could be herniated cervical disk, could be something else. If sleeping a certain way prevents the problem, then there's really no problem. As the spasms can last two days, though, I think I'd see an orthopedist personally.

I have similar problems too. Every once in a while, I'll wake up with a stiff/sore neck that lasts a few days.

It's really annoying.

^^ a remarkable invention. If you sleep the wrong way the first night, it will retain that position for you.

along the spine there are a series of erector muscles that automatically work when the spine is out of line.

so for sleeping the key is to keep the spine as straight as possible... just play with the pillow material, thickness etc... also the mattress firmness.

the best mattress I have ever used is one of those in Marriott.... probably made from memory foam as well.
