Default Wilson Steam 99

Is the power on this racquet similar, but more controlled? I know the string pattern is more open for the S, but with 3 more crosses, I would think the power would be the same, but with less spin.

The response is not quite as lively and the ball leaves the strings at a slightly lower trajectory. The feel of the Spin Effect string pattern also enlarges the feel of the sweetspot considerably. Due to those differences, the regular 99 feels much firmer and crisper to me. It offers me more control on volleys and drop shots etc, but lacks the power and spin of the S version.

srvnvly,

Steam racquets will be available for demo in around 4 weeks.
