California Tennis Resort?

hi! my tennis buddies and i are looking for a tennis resort in california that has different types of surface (grass, clay, and hard). what's the best resort in california to go with these surfaces? thanks in advance!

Hi Pete,

Have you been to the La Costa Tennis Resort in Carlsbad? They have all three surfaces. It's quite a nice place. 21 courts available. I believe it's where the Acura Classic is held. They have a tennis academy there too. Hope you find this helpful.

It's pretty expensive I think. I've not stayed there before. A friend of mine went and she told me she paid about $300/night, but that it included breakfast, some private lessons and unlimited court time. I've only gone for the Acura Classic and a coach's clinic, but I did see the grounds which are beautiful. You know, I think there are also some places in Palm Springs that have all 3 surfaces. One is Sonny Bono's racquet club. No membership. Just pay to play. The other ones in Palm Springs like Mission Hills are private resorts/clubs.

The Palm Springs area also has several other world class tennis resorts including the Hyatt Gran Champions in Indian Wells and La Quinta. Both have all courts types including grass. Another nice resort area to consider is Ojai, which is south east of Santa Barbara, nestled in the hills, with many nice clubs including the Ojai Inn.

The Hyatt Grand Champions took out there grass courts and replaced them with a spa. There are grass courts at La Quinta, the JW Marriott Desert Springs resort, and Mission Hills in greater Palm Springs and, as another poster pointed out, at La Costa in Carlsbad.
