And the point of this post is? To post a piece of news we've all already seen? To post a thread that's been discussed ad nauseum here already in the last few months? Compulsive pointless posting?

I didn't see this recent news posted anywhere on here.

I think it would be huge if he had the guts to admit how and what he did......he and his team (along with just about any top rider) have been able to get by the testing process -

This information has not been posted before, so I don't get what you are complaining about.

He knows whether he did the drugs or not. I'm not surprised he is doing this. A trophy does not replace the moment of finishing 1st in several races. I think this is getting a tad bit out of hand, and officials in other sports should be testing more athletes instead of a random selection.

Still doesn't take away from the fact that he beat cancer twice and was able to compete as a high level athlete for several years following multiple rounds of intense chemotherapy, and compete in (and complete) one of the most grueling feats of athleticism on the planet less than a year after beating the cancer.
I could give a damn about if he doped or not. The entire sport dopes, so why single out the one dude who won?

But you fail to see the big picture in your quest to label my post stupid. THE GUY BEAT CANCER TWICE AND COMPETED IN A BIKE RACE THATS OVER 2,000 MILES MERE MONTHS AFTER GETTING CHEMO. HE COMPLETED THE RACE. If that's not inspirational, I don't know what is.

The reason he got cancer was BECAUSE he was doping. It's not like he's some innocent victim here.
On top of that, as a result of losing all of that weight from chemo, he was ironically far better suited to compete in the TDF as a hill climber because he was so much lighter. Obviously, his "miraculous" recovery and large increase in VO2 max was aided and abetted by PED's as well. I have no respect for LA whatsoever. |

Almost the entire sport has to cheat because of guys like Armstrong who are taking the best drugs anyone can develop. The guys who dont want to cheat are forced to or just retire from the sport. Ban the *******s for life who cheat and allow those who dont want to cheat to rerpresent the sports.

Has it been established that LA's competition in all seven wins were 100% clean?
Aren't all the cyclists using PEDs? That's the impression I got from cycling friends who follow that sport closely.

Pretty much everyone was on PED's. Armstrong just made himself look like an *p*aragon of sportsmanship based on the fact he supposedly never doped. Christ, if you're going to make something as sanctimonious as that "What am I on?" commercial, you'd better be goddamn clean.

I can see NickC's point. Everyone knows pretty much every international caliber cyclist the last 2 decades up until "maybe" a few years ago, was doped up to the eyeballs. Thus Lance was beating the rest doing what they were all doing. What annoyed me the most about him was that before his doping allegations some Americans tried to tout him the best cyclists, which he clearly was not even had he been as clean as apple pie. So for that reason alone I am glad he was singled out for doping, as he is now viewed even by Americans as not even a top 10 cyclist all time, which IMO would be the correct rating for him all along, IMO the late 90s until the end of the Armstrong/Contador reign several years ago produced NO all time great cyclists, just alot of doping and no legendary battle hardened figures who can hold a candle to some of the past icons. Relatively speaking Lance was a one trick pony who only excelled at one event (Tour de France), and yes it is probably the biggest of all but past greats excelled and dominated year round. He also was reliant on having probably the deepest team in cycling history (full of heavy dopers of course) supporting him to all those wins. When he comes back and finds he isnt the top dog on his team, he goes into a huff as we saw, and cant cope (the year he came back and Contador dominated).

It's pretty obvious no one on this forum follows cycling.

There were some that were not doping and they were forced out of the sport. Added to that fact was that LA was one of the key ring leaders. Moreover, using philanthropy to whitewash one's skullduggery is appalling.

Sadly, the reputation of professional cycling is about at the level of women's roller derby or mud wrestling now. I'd say professional wrestling has more legitimacy at this point. Is there a bigger joke in the pro sports world?
Thanks, Lance! |

It's so predictable. All of Lance's fanboys have all run and hid. Those idiots were trolling the lance threads for months on end, claiming it was all a conspiracy.
Now of course, NONE of them are present to stand up and say 'I was wrong.' It's amazing what happens when delusion meets reality. |
