2nd clamp. notice the mushrooming of the rails next to/outside the bearings.
the bearings in this unit don't roll uniformly, but somewhat eliptically, just barely though.

bad batch of clamps I guess (bearings, i think). Mine were both replaced, no problemo.

yes. they worked great at first then the clamp in the second post quit "snapping" shut and was kinda crunching/crushing shut (thus the mushroomed metal rails).

Gamma replaced the clamp, no questions asked.

The first post, with the exploded bearings, happened to the second clamp, which still semed good when I had the first one replaced.

Again, clamp replaced no problem.

Current clamps are fine, so far. I think the originals were just part of a bad run, perhaps.

btw, this is just an FYI. Gamma was excellent in the Customer Service and
sent out clamps quickly, even threw in some string I'm currently playing.

I've never seen the two bearing setup. That's why I asked if those were Gamma clamps, because they look like Prince Clamps. A friend of mine bought a 6004 last year or so, and they shipped the 4 tooth clamps with the machine.

If I'm not mistaken, I think I've seen two posts now where you've said that Gamma clamps look like Prince clamps.

Just FYI: Gamma updated the clamps on their 6004, 5800, and 8800. I have both sets of clamps (from the older 6004, and from a newer 8800).

They are similar, but the newer ones (the ones you say look like Prince) are a little nicer. The wheel is flush with the clamp so stays out of the way more, and the clamp are a little bit lighter in feel, and they have a better feel when closing them as well. They also have a rubber padding on the handle which is nice on the hands. It's a nice update.

I have the Dual Clamps, very similar to the current Prince 1500/5000/6000 clamps. I don't know if Gamma is using the same clamps, but they look very similar.

They do look very similar, but not exactly the same (to me). If I can find some time later on tonight, I will post close up photos of both the older Gamma clamps and the newer ones.

This actually happened on a baiardo that we got at my store. I'm from chicago so I was able to get it replaced within a week and i'm not sure of the exact cause because i'm pretty sure we got them used from one of the majors.

My friend who recently got a 6004 had the badminton clamps shipped with his machine. I was thinking since you have a 8800, it was probably made the same time as tbuggle, because the likelyhood of a 6004s selling much more than 8800s. Gamma does not offer them as replacment clamps on thier website. So it must be a recent production change.

Is that what Gamma sent back? I'm surprised they don't offer it as a replacment clamp on thier website. Though I was able to get my pair for under $70. They work great on badminton.
