Unhappy This final showed that tennis is badly missing Nadal

People are finally realizing that Nadal is good and exciting for tennis.
I hope Rafa comes back strong and Federer keeps playing for at least a decade.

Winners/unforced errors stats:

Djoker: 47 winners/61 unforced errors (-14)

Murray:29 winners/46 unforced errors (-17)

Is this what tennis has become? Is this the product the ITF Grand Slam committee thinks people will pay to see and tune in to on their tv?

They have got to start speeding courts up.

So if Joker flogs Harrison or Ferrer it is a better match because they don't have defensive skills?

Way to think one player is bigger than the sport.

I agree, I can't wait for him to come back. Even though I'm a big fan of tennis in general I still miss the guy.

No one is saying he is bigger then the sport, but you can't deny he brings a certain excitement to the sport and is missed my many (even the trolls miss having someone to hate on)

See I would agree with that, except after the last two atrocious finals it just becomes more clear that Fed and Nadal are indeed far more entertaining to watch. Whether that is against each other or Novak/Murray.

Novak/Murray as a combination, unfortunately, is a snoozefest.

Can't believe I'm saying this but Nadal needs to come back AND FAST. I don't wanna see Murray-Djokovic finals all the time. They make me sick.

It's true. A loooooooottttt are talented! But Rafa just has the x factor man. He attracts even those that aren't tennis fans.

It's like in music. A lot have talent but only a few are superstars.

Fair analogy, Justin Bieber's a superstar and folk must dislike music if he attracts them.

Tsonga is Justin Bieber. Rafa is Bruce Springsteen.

Things is, even if you dislike Fedal matches, you can't help but agree that they are much better than Nolandy matches because even though Fed will choke and yadda yadda you will actually see some varied shotmaking because it is a lefty grinder versus a righty all courter whereas Novak and Andy area literally carbon copies. Every one of the Nolandy slam finals was mind numbingly boring and I tried to view those with an open mind(I don't particularly dislike Djoko or Andy, I am actually quite fond of them) but they DO NOT MATCH UP WELL.

Everybody interested in tennis should be hoping that Nadal comes back pretty strong to defend at least part of his clay realm and that Federer stays healthy.

Normally I would be hoping for the young'uns to rise but the current generation seems to have trouble making small tourney finals let alone beating big guns in slams.

What we need is shotmakers like Tsonga, Janowicz etc to break through. And for that, we need to speed up the courts. Not all, but at least the ones that used to be fast before (Wimbledon/USO etc). That way, all styles of tennis would be encouraged and tennis would become a more exciting sport.

Right now, it is mostly Federer who is shouldering tennis because of his genius, even though slowing down of the courts has negatively impacted him....

I agree. nadal also doesn't always have the most exiting game but he has some glamour around him that nole and murray don't have (not as much as fed but still).

the more top players have the better.

Even if nadal comes back fed is not going to be around forever so there is still a possibility of djok-murray finals, the only thing to do is speed up the courts

Being a Murray fan I agree lol...this final was terrible to watch, no but the match itself was a borefest...I got up early with a hangover to see but a game of pensioner ping pong. Nadal needs to return without ANY injuries to get back in the mix.
