Default Nadal in clay finals

36-5. Lost twice to Fed, twice to Nole and today. Darn impressive.

Yeah I know, should have been 37-4 by now though.

Zeballos is 1-1 vs. Nadal on clay now. I think he is the new clay GOAT.

Yes, pretty unique. And one can be forgiven for losing a final after 7 months off.

The days he only lost to all time greats like Federer and Djokovic(he is 6 slam winner so already an all time great) in clay finals seem to be history. Now he can lose to players who have never won a title before like Zeballos.

Yes, he is! He's overdoing it this week with finals in doubles and singles. He should focus on the singles only in Brazil.

His only RG loss was in an odd year as well. Novak smiles.

Someone won the Career Slam the last time Nadal lost at RG early in a upset.

That would be an "odd" coincidence (pun intended) to say the least... but still WAY too early to call.

This is how Nadal maintains such great H2H's against the other top guys. He only faces them when he's playing his absolute best. Many of his losses get spread amongst no-name opponents. And if he's playing his best going into playing a top guy and finds himself losing, then a sudden "injury" appears. That's the Nadal formula for greatness.

This seems hard to believe but it was the first time on the pro tour Rafa lost a clay final to a non top player. Until now, the only clay finals he had lost were to Fed and Djoko: both current/future #1 . Does that mean Zeb is gonna make it to #1 now?
