Default This is the only Novaks problem

The only reason why Novak isn't as popular as Roger or Rafa, is ... well he is just not cool enough.

It has nothing to do with his game, or his personality. He is amazing tennis player, he is super nice to everyone... but he just doesn't look cool, and there is nothing he can do about it.

How can he compare to these guys really? He can't, he just can't.

Novak is No1 player for 2 years now, and has 5 times less followers on facebook then Roger or Rafa.

And he posts regularly, has live chats with fans. Guy tries really hard! And STILL he can't even compare to Rafas or Rogers popularity.

Form is temporary, Class is permanent.

Djokovic will be the qunitessential guy who tries so hard to get tennis fans like him, only to be disappointed.

Djokovic's issues - if you could even call them that - are not how he is or acts now, rather the first impressions he made on people over the years before he peaked. He didn't endear himself to many people nor, more importantly, relative to Federer and Nadal. Federer was lucky to have gone through his formative years before the widespread-use of social media. In many ways he went from nothing to suddenly winning almost everything and having pretty much every legend of the game saying or implying he was the greatest talent of all time.

Are you sure that is the only problem he has? You think the fact that he has 5 slams less than Nadal, and double digit slams less than Federer has nothing to do with it?

Nadal was more popular than Djokovic when he had 3 slams. Same with Federer.

His game could be quite boring too. I mean, he does everything well (except volleys), but tennis fans are used to the polar- opposite images of Federer, the shot-making artist, and Nadal, the top-spinning brute. They both attract a great deal of fans for being on one end of the extreme alone. Let's face it, people like winners, but moreover, people like winners who have style. Djokovic currently is miles behind Federer and Nadal in that department.

Don't you think he is less popular because he was never party of one of the greatest rivalries of all time.
The upcoming young Spanyard challenging the future GOAT.
Or how about his freaking booooring game.
There's really nothing attractive about his game, ugly strokes, grinding....
Fed's the greatest shotmaker of all time, having it all.
Nadal's producing a freakish amount of spin, fighting spirit...

Nadal-Federer?? A rivalry? Fed hasn't beat Nadal at a slam since Nadal hit his prime.. That was 5-6 years ago.

Djokovic is a great guy. The thing for him is that Federer and Nadal combo outright dominated everything, everywhere for six season pretty much. That is a long time in tennis, and would have had a huge amount of fans emotionally invested in them, because they were the face of tennis for so long.

Djokovic has had to fight hard just to break through the Fedal era, and show that he also is a natural born champion just like those two are, but it takes time to change things around. Fans have been captivated and enthralled by the personalities, the matches, the style of Roger and Rafa, and they were the only story for so so long.

Novak took the first step back in 2011, but he is going to have to show the world that he is a champion with a heart, with passion and continue to do the best he can. That is all he can do, and let the chips fall where they will.

Federer and Nadal were there first, fans for a few years tended to fall into one of those camps. Djokovic will always be playing catch up.

Plus I know a lot of Federer fans dont like the way Nadal plays but it made for a great match up(if you were a Nadal fan!). Djokovic's matchups with either Federer or Nadal dont seem to produce the same excitement.

The fact that Roger and Rafa are still active sort of keeps him from truly getting all fans. He may keep winning, but circumstances made those other 2 that popular and revered and as long as they are around I can't see Novak winning a popularity contest against them. Like it's been said, Rafa vs Roger, polar opposites, legend killer vs greatest of all time, etc.

Who cares?

The rankings will speak for themselves.

Why does popularity matter to you? I thought we were watching tennis, not Mrs. World.
