Default String Tension for Wilson Hyper Pro Staff 6.1

I saw the recommended tension on the site as 50-60 lbs. On a friends' racquet, though, it read 55-65 lbs. Strung at 61 with a Wilson Synthetic Gut 15L it felt extremely stiff. Could you please confirm the tension? What can these differences owe to?

The tension for the HPS 6.1 is 55-65. I string mine at 64 lbs with Wilson synthetic gut. Since the HPS 6.1 is already a stiff racquet, I would put a thinner gauge string in it.

Wilson changed the recommended tension range on this racquet from 55-65 to 50-60lbs towards the end of its production. This was an across the line adjustment and was implemented due to the results of research conducted by Wilson.

Chris,
so this was done with no change in the racquet itself? They kept the racquet unaltered in all aspects, but "corrected" the suggestion tension?
Thanks, to tennisboy too, for the feedback.

Correct - there was no change to the racquet, just an updated recommended tension range.

So does that mean I shouldn't be stringing my HPS 6.1s at 64 or 65 lbs? Instead I should be stringing at 59 or 60? Any help is appreciated.

You will not harm the racquet by stringing it at 64 or 65lbs.
I believe the change was based on updated playtest and general guidelines on tension from the research by the Wilson Performance Racquet Division.
Going forward Wilson will be using the following guidelines, by headsize, regardless of frame.
OS (106+) = 55-65lbs.
MP (99-105) = 53-63lbs.
MS (98 -) = 50-60lbs.
