I just was wondering how good many of these people are? Because my old high school coach was a woman who has done a lot of coaching. As i talked to her i found out she was a pro when she was younger. She at one point was ranked #1 in dubs in the u.s. and like top 20 in singles i believe. She played against evert, and someone else that i cant think of. She did tell me in one tournament she was one win from getting to play billie jean king. Now though her knees are gone, and she works at country clubs and occasionally coaches high schoolers.

i dont know if anyone could find anything on her because it was so long ago, and i dont know how long she stuck with it. but i do know she did play in europe a little, almost played u.s. open dubs butr decided to go to brothers wedding. one of her friends won wimbledon doubles (she has an orintal name). But her strokes are so effortless when she plays.

mine at my local club were a bunch of brothers who knew nothing about tennis IMO they all sucked and for my school again i didn't have the luxury of tennis being ever enrolled in the sports program except for one year ..

My coach was about NTRP 5.5-6.0 at the highest when he played. He did some permanent injury to his shoulder or elbow or something so he can't play at that level anymore.

My club's pro played on the women's tour in the 80's. She had a ranking around 100 give or take a few. She can still beat all the male hackers at the club.

Both of the coaches at my club were pros. I'm not sure how high the male one was ranked, but the female one was ranked pretty high (Shelley Roxburgh, anyone?)

The guy who used to coach at my club is a 4.2 (British ratings). Think that's about 5.0.

if only we were this good!
Anyways, the guy i originally worked with was ~6.0. We didn't connect too well w/ lessons even though he's a great guy. Now i work with a guy who's probably a strong 5.0 now, was most likely a good 5.5 back in the day. He's a little bigger and slower now, but has some pretty awesome pace behind everything. Back in the summer on vacation, i had a single lesson from a guy named Harry (probably in his 60s) who said he used to be top 10 back during juniors. *edit* great choice for a topic, btw! |

my coach for a couple of years beat a top 500 player and was top 1000...(6.5-7.0)
but this other guy he used to hit with was top 100 maybe top 50 briefly, and played lendl 5-7, 6-7 (he lost)... then the guy moved to singapore |
