he's not gonna make it past 23 the way he plays.

great player, great heart, but i bet his joints HATE him.

time to dump his uncle and get a big name coach that can help him change his game.

Russia's Nikolay Davydenko takes over as the top seed in Marseille."

Is Nadal more prone to injuries because of his style?
Could it be that he is just resting for the clay season?
His injuries are not that bad. after OZ open, he is just trying to get some rest for the US hard court season, ATP is a long season and who cares about these little tournaments/

Ya nadal hits off his back foot+ does use a different style forehand than other players. He is also #2 in the world + has beaten fed 6 out of 9 times. His forehand is one of the biggest reasons for that, without that forehand he would not be were he is today.

As far as needing a new coach i agree, his biggest weakness is his serve+return game, not his forehand.

His forehand is a big reason he struggles on the return as well as not being able to handle pace and flat shots.

LOL, this is about all you nadalites have to hang your hat on these days, should i also post his record against blake and berdych? face it, if he had faced fed on any other surface but clay the record would be more like 14-1 to fed...

His record could not be 1-14 against fed because he has already beaten fed twice on the hardcourts, i know this is something the fed fans seem to always forget.I guess it kind of blows the theory that nadal cant beat him on the hardcourts.

You guys ever think rafa did steroids. I mean one of the main side effects of steroids is acne ad he had it for like 4 months then it went away then after that he was ripped. Another of course is a weakening of the bodies tendons and muscles. I mean for a guy his age regardless of his playing style he shouldn't be having this many injuries. Cheng and hewitt used to run around just as much as rafa at his age and didn't get inured nearly as much.

yeah, good luck on that one, at his level things never change, look at Steffi, could crush a topspin backhand in practice but I think I saw her hit 1 topspin down the line passing shot in all the matches I saw her in.

The guy is a bull for god's sake! Rafa loves the sport, he doesn't do it for money, girls, cars, big houses, whatever. He loves practicing, training and playing matches, after all this is his life and I also don't think changing coaches would help him. If you didn't know his uncle is very close to him.

All the emotion on the court, he is probably totally opposite off the court. He's shy, kind, respectful and everything else. And I'm not even a Nadal fan, but I do respect him a lot.

I quite agree - I think considering the pressure this guy is under he conducts himself really well. I have never seen him throw his racket when he is in a tight spot. He seems well aware of the fact that success can be failure tomorrow. His attitude on court under pressure shows great maturity also and I hope he can improve on his game as he is an excellent candidate for the no 1 spot.

QUOTE OF THE THREAD!
but there is evidence for the clanishness of his family: a perfectly middle class family, ALL living together in the same house? (or apartment, never can remember) that only happens in clans...

Interesting you start your statement with "the guy is a bull" since I find your whole glorifying statement on how wonderful butt picking, excuse making, convenient injury time out taking Nadal, is in every way "alot of bull" as well.

As for his uncle, he creeps me out. He reminds of Yuri Sharapov.

I totally agree with this statement. I don't think he cares one whit what people think, especially those who cry for his demise. That kid is smart. He is honing up his skills and when he comes back we will all witness his much improved arsenal. What? You don't think him and Uncle Toni don't watch tapes and are shoring up his defenses? Ha!
