Default USTA levels

What level should I be to enter a USTA tourney and not get completely crushed? I'm 17 and a self-rated strong 3.5, so i'm guessing I have a while to go...

well your a junior so just play a level 7 tournament in your area

well only new england has # levels so play a rookie if you are in another section

Level 7...no, play Level 5. When I was a 3.5, I got to the finals of the first two tournaments I ever played, both level 5

I have age groups in my section. NEO northeast Ohio if I were you I would check with a localy ranked USTA player.

where do you live cuse in new england a 3.5 would get killed in a level 5 tournament

i entered a tournament on the gulf coast at 4.0 and lost in the finals .. and i'm 15 (9th grade), if that helps.... and my high school team is undefeated and i don't even play varsity (i should but thats a different story)
