Red Clay in the U.S.?

There is still red clay in Colorado. Columbine CC has 2 American red clay courts that are maintained extremely well are are great to play on. You have to be a member or guest to play there and I beleive they are the only red clay on Colorado. Bunch of places have har-tru.

The ones I am definite about are on Allen Street between 20th and 24th(?). I can't remember the exact location but it is right near there. I am not a sure about these because the courts are pretty far off the road. I will update when I get a better look and see if they are used this summer. I don't know anything about how they are maintained, etc. However the Allen street courts are maintained and played on frequently.

to the other posters. There are 7 clay courts where I live and I believe we are the only ones, or one of the super few, in jersey. Site is still being worked on but you can see the opening pic at arlingtonplayersclub.com . If you search that in google it wont come up because not a lot of views have taken place.

The courts off of 7th Street are part of Jordan Park, a City of Allentown park. According to the city's website, permits to play on these courts can be obtained at the courts (http://www.allentownpa.org/text/recreation_programs.htm). I heard a rumor that the courts will not be opening this year, but I can't confirm this.

The courts along Allen Street (at 21st & Allen) belong to the private Oakmont Tennis Club (http://www.oakmonttennis.com/) of which I am a member. The club isn't yet open for the season but it should be open later this month. Memberships applications for the season are currently being accepted (the application and relevant info is on the website). Let me know if you want more info or if you want to hit.

How about grass courts in the USA? I know they got some at Forest Hills, and Newport Hall of Fame, and maybe Longwood cricket club in Mass.

Anyone know of any others, public or private?

there are 2 clubs in jersey that have grass courts. One is about 10 minutes from newark, nj, i believe they have 5 or 6 grass courts. Maintained perfectly, I'm talking about wimbledon like apperance. Club costs thousands to join and a few hundred a month in "food" fees

Har-Tru (clay) absolutely makes sense in Colorado. The season there isn't really any shorter than it would be int he NY metropolitan area or Chicago for that mattera nd both those markets have hundreds, if not thousands, of clay courts.

Coral Springs has a great red clay public facility. It was built to host the US Men's Clay Courts in the 1990's. Rumor has it that the are going to convert some of the courts to green Har-Tru.

Har-Tru is a naturally green crushed stone product...nothing synthetic about it...all natural. Checkk out more at www.hartru.com. It was introduced into the US market in the late 1920's and there are about 40,000 green Har-Tru courts in the US.

In Worcester Massachusetts there are 7 of the nicest red clay courts I've ever seen. There right in the downtown area and excelently maintained. Its a private club and its called the Worcester tennis club.

Sure are, you have the Oritani Field Club in Hackensack, which has red clay courts and an indoor swimming pool. However, you must become a member.

There's one public hard court I've played on that has so many weeds growing on it, it's almost a grass court

Wow, that's pretty cool, I had no idea Worcester had any red clay. I hear there is also a club in Quincy MA with red clay.
