I think Safin only plays well if he has something to prove.
Like he'll play well against Federer, Sampras, possibly Laver, McEnroe,Borg,Wilander,Connors,Agassi...you know, the LEGENDS. It's always nice to beat a legend and Marat enjoys that. With lower level competition, he's probably not motivated. |

I wanted Massu to win, but am really happy for Safin. I feel sad for him when he loses, knowing what he's capable of.
