Default Rusedski Retires

monster lefty serve and decent volleys notwithstanding, a slice BH could only take him so far.

Demetieva can't serve and Rusedski can't hit a topspin BH, yet both make it to a GS final.

Go figure?

he did actually pay Tennis Canada back all the $$$ they spent on developing him over the years before he crossed the pond for warm beer, perpetual rain, bland food and top of the pops

I wonder if he ever got used to how his foot tasted?

007:

Rusedski always struck me as a ***** and a fraud; his game never matched his bombast and lack of respect for opponents. Then again, he might have been ornery from sitting around tasting his feet.

Joking aside, I enjoyed watching him on tour as he had a unique game and it was fun to cheer against him. I hope Dementieva doesn't join Greg in retirement. She seemed to practice non-stop with her mom in tow at every tournament. Hard working and very smart; I bet she moves on soon if she can't be top 15.

what a quality guy, i loved how the insults he spewed never came back to bit him in the ass:
allow me to paraphrase: "sampras is a step and a half too slow, he'll barely make ti past the next round"
to those wondering, he made these comments at the 2002 us open after getting his *** handed to the aging sampras that would go on to win his record 14th major.

Even better was when a reporter, on court after Sampras won in the next round, asked Sampras about what Greg Rusedski said. Sampras' reply? "Who?"

Rabbit: I remember that sly response from Pete. Classic!

I must admit though I did enjoy watching Greg play that S & V out of sheer contrast to 99% of the other ATP players.

The only thing better than watching Greggie play was listening to him talk about....himself.

The so called greatest player to ever be British/Canadian according to the herald. Had a few controversies and made it to a grand slam final.

Not bad...

There are very few players that I would say this about, but, good riddance.

I agree. I made a point NOT to watch him when he played. Lots of mouth and he seemed to be a real downer.

I don't think he everd eveoped a British accent, he always sounded, well like Greg!!
Lets not forget his Mum and Mrs are both Brits,(English I think) so it was hardly like he fired a dart at a globe and said.."i'll go there"
