For leather you can feel the bevel of the racquet. It's what everyone wants to really feel.

Probably the thickest leather grip, which is Gamma I believe or was it Volkl? Don't remember but if you can't get it to the size you want, you can buy the grip increaser or whatever you call it.

A leather grip is probably good for at least a year. I used to go through synthetic grips, like the DuraTred, after about six to eight hours of play. I hit my forehand with my thumb crease right on a bevel and the synthetic grips would start coming apart right at that point. I have about eight or nine months on my current leather grip and the leather in that location is just darkened but otherwise fine. The grip overall is a bit more slippery than it used to be when new, so I'll probably replace it soon.

I've tried some leather care products like Lexol but it seems to swell up the leather a bit and I didn't like that. This swelling seems to go down after a couple of days so only if I'm not playing for a while will I put some on. It definitely seems to help by increasing the tackiness a bit and making the leather a bit softer and more pliable.

I just put a TW Private label leather grip on my K95. The grip was the "25mm x 1300mm x 1.3mm" size. The racquet, unstrung, with the original Wilson TrueGrip, was 328 grams. The weight with no grip was 310 grams. With the TW Leather grip (trimmed), it was 330 grams. With a Supergrap (trimmed), it was 334 grams. So, from my calculations:

Wilson TrueGrip (Trimmed): 20g
TW Private Label Thin and Wide 1.3mm/25mm (Trimmed): 22g
Yonex Super Grap (Trimmed): 4g

As a side note, stringing the racquet with NRG2 17 (18x20 string pattern) at 60lbs added 16 grams for a total of 350 grams.

I'd be interested to know what the weight of the 1.5mm "thick" version of the TW Leather grip is.

The thickest I have used is TW label leather in 1.5mm, it will definitely increase half grip size.

I recently got two TW leather grips (the thinner one and the thicker one), and a Wilson leather grip. I put them all on (I have four of the same racquet), and within a half-hour I started getting three blisters on my racquet hand: one on the bottom digit of my ring finger, one on my base of my thumb, and one on the heel of my hand.

I find this amazing considering that this season I have been playing using the stock grips (Wilson Micro-Dry Touch) for months, hours at a time with no blisters.

Also, three fingers of my racquet hand felt a little numb, though this went away after several more more days of playing. I think I am going to go back to the Wilson Micro-Dry Touch grips. They provide nice cusioning, very good tackiness, fairly good feel for the bevels, good ridges and valleys, and no blisters.

Is leather worth it?

Umm...the leather is most often used as a base for overgrip - try it with Prince Microtec overgrip - nice bevel feel, firm, but great comfort too.

Is leather worth it?

Well it depends on what u want. If you like the feel of leather and the bevels of the grip then its the best grip out there. Most people use leather as their basegrip and stuff a overgrip over it (thats why overgrips exist ). IF you arent planning to use an overgrip then sync grips are much better.

If you looking for a thick, good quality leather i'll suggest the TW leather the 1.5mm thickness and 22mm wide but only IF ur gonna use a overgrip.

I think weight differences in grip could be because many of us weight our synthetic grips after we take them off our racket, they have already had sweat soaked into them adding a couple of grams.

That being said in my experience (babolat leather) the weight was increased about 8-10g from the original weight and noticeably more headlight
