ever watch basketball? if so, when's the last time you saw a game where the players connected on a reasonable percentage of mid-range jumpers? free throw shooting is around the lowest in recorded history. and these are people who play basketball every day of their lives since childhood.
yeah, i can hit second serves harder than half the women's top 10 and shoot free throws better than half the nba. women modelled their game after evert, and once the rackets advanced there wasn't much reason to do much else but slug, slug, slug. michael jordan and doctor j, early in their careers anyway, took the ball to the hole and tried to dunk on every single play, and today nobody can shoot for sh!t

Every time I see Demented-Eva play (not very often, fortunately), I can't believe her pathetic serve, and how she's so unprofessional as to do nothing about it.

Doesn't she ever think to herself, "My, I'm in the top 10 even though I've got a serve which is worse than a decent 11-year old's. Perhaps if I got a decent coach and practised a bit, I'd win a few more matches, and hey, I might get to No 1. Wouldn't that be something."

Hingis was the same. It was clear to everyone that her 50 mph service delivery was the reason for her fall from No 1. What did she do about it... absolutely diddly squat.
