when you are preparing to hit the forehand shot...and you bring your racket back in like a circle or something...are you supposed to make the takeback circle your wrist or your arm or both...??

the takeback is pretty stylistic... how you take the racket back isn't a fundamental part of you shot. that said, if you are trying to develop a consistent takeback, mimicking 1/2 circle, or a "C," is a good place to start. keep the wrist pretty stable as you get the racket back.

I've found that my best strokes typically involve little to no take back circles. The more compact the stroke, the better your timing, etc. Enormous benefit for returns as well.

I've hit many forehands that I wish I could take back.
(sorry - couldn't resist) |
