I played around with my forearm topspin and I tried doing a few forearm topspin lobs. My question is are the mechanics the same and the only difference is the racquet angle?

Yes, the mechanics of the FH topspin groundstroke and FH topspin lob is the same. Except racket angle and swing path too.
