lindsay....is westside open to the public? like i said in an earlier post i'll be in houston for 3 weeks in december at my in-laws house and i would love to get some hitting in. i have hit at the houstonian before but would go just about anywhere within a reasonable distance from memorial to hit with 4.5 or higher players while i'm there.

I don't think it is. However, you are allowed to hit there with members, which are a dime a dozen(over 6000 to date) so finding one shouldn't be hard.

Did you say 6000 members?? I know the place is really big, but is it over-crowded now with that many people? My main concern would be the tennis court availability and my wife's would be the fitness classes. Is it hard to get space in those now? Thanks

6000 members, but not 6000 tennis members. they've added 3000 fitness members in the last year. Court availability is NEVER a problem... 30+ courts, hydro, hartru, rebound ace, indoor/outdoor, stadium- you have lots of options.
i should work for this place the way i talk about it. |

Thanks for all the information Lindsay. How about the fitness center and classes? Are they getting over-crowded? That will be my wife's main concern as she doesn't play tennis. Also, do they still have the red clay courts? Thanks again for all your input.

Tons of classes, never too crowded. They have several state of the art studios for classes. Fitness, yoga, they have pilates studios(some private) and 2 gyms(1 is a typical gym, the other a wellness center).
They took out the red clay courts. They have hydro court and hartru. The hydros are very nice! Hope you enjoy your trip. You will find an extremely large tennis shop where I work right down the street from Westside. I would say the name but it would be edited. |

Are there any 4.5-5.0 players near Sugar Land that would like to hit around on the weekends? I recently started playing tennis about 5 months ago and I need to find a hitting partner.

The Clear Lake area used to have a lot of tennis when I lived there - Bay Area Racket Club, Freindswood Racket Club, another right by the water whose name I forget, and Uof H Clear Lake.
