Robredo is like over a full western. Corretja is western, Ferrero and Moya are more towards semi, no clue with Roddick.

i would have to disagree on purecarolosmoyadrive about corretja using western he might use semi western but i really doubt that he uses western, cause i watched him so close at legg mason tournament there is no way he uses western

HFan, I saw him at IW this year, and the spin he hits with, has to be western. He hits with to much loopy spin with that LOOPY AS CAN BE swing, then when he powers and drives, he still has tons of spin on it.

Corretja's grip never looked like a big western to me..You can still hit loopy with sw.
Roddick is a bit western as well. I have seen pictures of Ferror hitting with extreme western. Moya seem to fluctuate between sw and moderate western. |

I'm fairly sure Roddick uses western, i saw him at siebel and he seemed to hit with alot of spin but had some trouble flattening out the ball which probably wouldn't happen with a semi western grip

Hewitt hits western, and I'm pretty sure Roddick does also.

Corretja is definitely not western.
There was an old website (www.tennisforall.org) where a professional photographer timelapsed Corretja's forehand and you could clearly see his hand position on his racket was not western at all, and even less extreme than a semi-western in fact (!) This probably explained why he has been perhaps the most adaptable Spanish player up until Ferrero. The whole point is that Corretja's swing path was very low-high but yet his grip wasn't extreme, meaning his extrme amounts of spin are a function of his body mechanics and not his grip, which if anyone has taken physics makes sense. The most extreme grips that I have seen nowadays are Saretta and a young Russian named Andreev. |

I've heard Moya is basically always moderate western, I think my coach even asked him once and he said he was or something.

What about Jim Courier? Didn't he have a full-western grip?
