Yeah, it's the famous match between a prime Billie Jean King against a 60-year-old Bobby Riggs. Shouldn't be a surprise who won the match.

Yeah, this whole "The Williams ought to be playing with the men," theory and so-forth is just one of those ideas created by the media (the kind of media that doesn't really know tennis, you know like that stuff ESPN shows, etc
I don't know why the hell those people still have those jobs. |

'Slowly' is very relative. 20 yrs ago they said women would eventually beat men in marathons. Still ain't happening. Even in billiards, where strength is only involved in the break, women can't even get close. In bowling, good amateur men routinely school female pros. The whole battle of the sexes in sports is just a creation of the left leaning, guilty conscience press. And a lot of women's tennis popularity is based on men being willing to watch attractive women do almost anything. Men would watch two hotties play tennis even if they were ranked in the 50s. Back when she had her tennis playing look (not today's emaciated, pale skinned actress look), Anna Kournikova could have attracted millions to a Pay-Per-View to watch her fold laundry. |

Any of these matches on youtube?? If so, under what search title. I would love to see an exhibition between a man vs woman tennis match...minus the Riggs/King match. I've seen that one already.

"I'm gonna take him out"
-Serena Williams' brash prediction about playing #203-ranked Karsten Braasch in a "Battle of the sexes" match during the 1998 AO. The bespectacled German, who had played a round of golf earlier in the day, slammed serena 6-1, rubbing it in by smoking cigarettes on changeovers. Braasch also whacked Venus 6-2 to silence temporarily, the Williams' claim that they could compete on the men's tour. |

Justine also lost badly in battle of sexes the one time she played. No big deal.

<Mod Mode> You should have searched on some relevant terms. I searched "Karsten Venus Serena" and got 24 threads.
I just merged three of them with yours. Now you can see all the previously posted arguments. (You're welcome.) </Mod Mode> - KK

Although my friend is too modest to post this, he (a former DI scholarship player) lead Billie Jean King 5-0 before she 'excused herself' from the court and did not return. He was a HS senior (I think, maybe college freshman) at the time and she was the #1 women's player in the world.
