Which shot made by any pro tennis player ever stands in your mind as the most amazing feat of tennis you have ever seen?

Lendl hit an on-the-run behind-the-back passing shot by Paul Annacone once that was amazing. I think it was at the USOpen.

US Open final against Lendl v Becker, Becker lobs over Lendl at the net, Lendl runs back and smacks a shot over his left shoulder with his back still towards Becker.

most impressive for me was the sampras vs. Agassi, 2000 aus open semi.
Agassi bombs a flat first serve up the t, sampras lunges and barely gets a racket on it, agassi pounds the ball DEEP into sampras's forehand corner, and pete lopes over and absolutely DRILLS a forehand crosscourt on the dead run, pass agassi. No one, but no one else would have gotten to that shot, much less spanked a winner off it. after hitting that shot, sampras stands where he is looking at the crowd, daring anyone in the audience not to clap..... |

second favorite shot was the sampras agassi 1999 Los Angeles,
Pete played so well in that match it made agassi look like a ranked amature. One point in the second set they got into a cross court rally, and sampras was actually bullying agassi around with his backhand. Finally sampras hits one short ball, agassi then does one of his extreme crosscourt backhand that pulls sampras way off the court. Sampras says "i'll have none of this" and fires a backhand bullit up the line, from between the net post and ball kid, for a winner. |

Roddick's point against Juan Ignacio Chela in the 2002 Open. Being there, let me tell you...I've never seen so much emotion in a point.

The most impressive shot I've ever seen is the one Fernando Gonzales did to Chang at the '03 U.S. Open. He hit a f-h winner while going back to the baseline.

Ferrero, 2003 U.S. Open, back to the net, running past the baseline, firing a between-the-legs winner, with pace, deep down the line, while looking back over his shoulder, like he had it all the way.

Two more ... Goran, 2001 Wimbledon, crucial score, late in the match, on his knees deep in the court, blasting a winner down the line past Henman.
Last year ... Ginepri, either at Newport or New York, running full-tilt and dumping a winner around the net post while he was ducking to avoid being decapitated by part of the umpire's chair! |
