Does Pat Rafter still live in Bermuda?

I was conjuring up vacation destinations when I saw that Pat Rafter was a Bermudian. There were several articles on how the marginal tax rate in Australia is 48%, and that Bermuda is a no income tax country. It was also mentioned that Rafter was awarded the Australian of the Year award by the government in 2002, despite his defection. At the ceremony, Rafter vowed to return his citizenship to Australia and move back now that he has collected his 40 million in prize and endorsement money, and hence, his annual income now is not nearly as enormous as in his prime. So two questions come to mind:
1) Does Rafter now live in Australia?
2) With all the players claiming residency in Monte Carlo and Bermuda tax havens, how do they get away with playing Davis Cup for a country with whom they have no citizenship?

Why does anyone care? Pat probably hasn't been there in years. Just check in with the Bermuda Chamber of Commerce. If I was going to Bermuda, that's what I would do.

Countries just want to win Davis Cup. That's why the Brits pay that Canadian to play for them.

He lves in Australia now, or so it seems. I believe it's north of Brisbane on the Gold Coast somewhere.

Well I guess countries can't force someone to live there if they want to save a little tax money, but if they can secure their services for Davis Cup, at least they are getting SOMETHING out of them.

Patty's immediate family still live in Brisbane's inner north, although his older sister is on the Sunshine Coast about an hour and a half away.

Pat himself now lives in the rarefied atmosphere of Sydney's North Shore. He moved back here to Oz before he became a father because he wanted to raise his kids here.

They still retain their citizenship, just their residency changes, thats why you don't see US players who live in Monaco or Bermuda, since US tax is based on citizenship and not residency

Another reason for moving to Bermuda is the travel schedule -- from Australia, it's brutal. But Bermuda is just off the coast of the southeast US, and a closer flight to Europe than most places in the US. That plus the the tax benefit, and the gorgeous climate and locale, it's a wonder more pros don't do it.
