Sanchez-Casal is a very good academy, with a good name (and all the coaches are RPT!!!). However there is a danger that it is becoming a bit like IMG Bolletieri in that the name is now bigger than the results and that you need money rather than talent to train there. In fairness, academies are a business and the mass players pay the bills for the talented ones to train.

In terms of the coaching, it's mostly built on repetition and drills - actually the same drills repeated over and over again. The work ethic instilled in the players is phenominal.

If you want to see a less commercial academy in action try Elitennis at Club de Gimeno as discussed earlier in the thread. Smaller in scale but more personal for it.

cheers
Hi kiwisam,
if you can email me, i can sort this out for you, you can come and spend time on court with the academy at Elitennis,
which will give you a good insight to what goes on out here,
summer is a great time to come out here as the academy will be very busy,
will be able to arrange cheap housing for your stay too,
thanks Barca

Hi Ash
thanks for comments,
are the RPT thinking of doing any more courses this year?

Hey Barca

Are you involved with Elitennis? I'm looking to bring a squad from my Academy out for a weeks training in mid May so they can see how the Spanish set-up works and how hard the players train!

RPT wise we are running around 100 courses in the UK this coming year and I believe there will be around the same number run across Spain. The course in Barca was a re:train course to update coaches who had trained previously on the latest progressions etc. We will do another later in the year - September maybe?

Regards

Ash

Barca

Will keep you posted. Last time I came out I stayed at the Hotel Barca Classic opposite the club, but would be good if we are brining a few players (5 or 6) out to rent a house maybe nearby. Do you happen to know of anything or any contacts in Casteldefelles that might help us out?

Hi fibresupex
depends when you are coming out, it starts 14th of March and will end about the 22/23 March,
If your worried about academy coaching it will be fine as the academies will start later in the day
thanks barca
