Babb, I'm currently playing with the Microgel Prestige Mid strung with Pro Supex Maxim Touch at 58 lbs.

Awesome strings. Feel like natural gut but a bit crispier.

Congrats on the win. Right now, I'm just doing some serious drilling with a 5.5, and former touring pro at my club, which include tie breaks and some round robins. Gotta get ready for that tourney. Starting to really dial in on both BH and FH.

BTW, they actually love the shoes. I think one of them is going to start using them.

I should have been working with the local pro at my club to prepare for my tournament, but I've been so busy with school tennis lately. It gets old, but I have commitments...

I've gotten myself into another predicament. Go figure. Haha. I'm going to take the day before a tournament off, because I'm starting to get another blister on my right palm.

But anyway, I think I'm heading back toward good old synthetics from my polyester hybrids. I have more feel with the synthetics and they're completely wallet and stringer friendly. Once I buy some more racquets, I can use 18 gauge if I want .

I can never stick with the same thing for too long. I don't know why. After the season I'm going to demo some new racquets...

And did you notice during the PLO that a lot of the line judges and officials were wearing the Trances? They must've read your review

LOL, maybe they did read the review. But no, I didn't notice that. I wonder if they will be using them in Miami???

ClubHoUno, here was my response to someone else who asked for a comparison of these shoes with the barricades. I can't speak in regards to the vapors as I have never tried those shoes. Good luck!

In relation to "true to size">>> Whenever I use Nike, I have to order a half size larger. With these shoes, I took a chance and told TW to send me my exact shoe size, and they fit perfectly. Keep in mind everyones feet are different. If you are thinking of ordering them, perhaps you should go to a local store and try them on before you order them online to make sure you get the right fit.

Lastly, I would rate them just as high, if not higher than Adidas, Nike, K Swiss, etc. These are damn good shoes, and for the price as well as the fact they hardly have any wear on them, I would rate them higher than other manufacturers shoes.

If it wasn't for the fact I have so many Oscillates remaining, I would switch to these shoes permanently.

Good luck.

Hey Drak, I just won in the first round of my tournament. 6-2, 6-1. I don't recall being broken, but it might've happened once.

Anyway, I take back what I said about leaving polyester. I got my Blue strung up with some Luxilon Big Banger XP 16L with PSGD 16 crosses and it is sooo sweet. Maybe better than my Big Ace/Synthetic Titan hybrid. It feels great. But then again, Luxilon is known to go dead after about four hours. So that leaves me three hours of ungodly playing to win my tournament

Oh yeah, and I've finally gotten used to the shoes because I slid in them today . Lol. Guy hit a great approach shot and I ran it down, spun out, got back into position, and he missed the relatively easy forehand volley.

babb, congrats! Good to hear.

Sorry I hadn't responded sooner. I spent the weekend at the Sony Ericsson Miami with a bunch of posters from the boards. 9Jo11yroger, Sup2dresq, Topaz, JrStrker12, etc).

Anyway, got Fed's autograph! here it is, the holy grail of caps:

Well then he couldn't wear them! Lol!

Drak: I'm so jealous. Maybe I'll try and go to Miami next year... . But anyway, do you know who he was warming up with out of curiosity?

^^On one day he warmed up with Blake. On this particular day, I can't remember the name of the guy he warmed up with. Sup2Dresq knows.

As for getting his sutograph on the shoes>>> you are right, I wouldn't be able to wear them. Also, I prefer the auto on the cap. looks much nicer.

Maybe if you were wearing Vapors it would be okay, but otherwise having shoes signed would be pointless, IMO.

Roger warming up with James Blake? James must be paying a lot for lessons from the number one player in the world...

Default 6 month Follow-up

Yup, it has been 6 months since I did my initial review of these shoes, and after all this time, I could say with confidence these shoes are as good now as they were when I first put them on.

As expected, they are definitely worn in, so are much more comfortable than day 1. For the past two plus months I have been playing 4-5 times a week, about 2-3 hours at a pop. This includes playing with ex-college players, 5.5's, a recent National Grass Court Champion, and other levels.

The shoes have not broken, had tears, or seems falling apart. The soles are now beginning to show wear, but I could say they will probably last me another 3 months. please keep in mind, I have been playing almost exclusivley the last few months on clay, so that will make a big difference in wear. The support is still there, as is the comfort.

The only complaint I have about the shoe at this point is the retention of smell. VERY FOUL. LOL. It got so bad I had to start keeping them outside, and even though I washed them, the smell just won't go away.

Wilson definitely hit a home run with these shoes. Thanks to TW for choosing me to do a review.

Default 10 month update!!!

10 month update on these shoes. They are still going strong. With so much time on the courts (mostly har tru), they still have plenty of life in them, although they smell really bad.

The outers (by the laces) are starting to come apart a bit, but don't effect the shoe and how they feel on your foot. Other than that, they are very comfortable, have broken in very nice, and are easy to transition from har-tru to hard courts.

I also was able to play with them on grass this past weekend, and although they did ok, I found myself slipping a bit too much for my taste.

Default One year later.

Well, it's been one year since I received these shoes from TW to review, and I have to say I haven't been dissapointed. The look of the shoe was classic. The feel, and most importantly performance of the shoe has been phenomenal. So much so, that I switched to these shoes and have been wearing them as my primary shoe ever since. The shoes have lasted me one year. I have never owned a tennis shoe that has come close.

Now, for the money these shoes cost compared to Adidas and Nike (the big two), it just can't be beat. They are cheaper, and last 3-4 times longer. Additionally, not only did the shoes perform exceptionally well on clay, but also superbly on hard courts. Granted, most of the playtime the shoes got were on clay (making them last longer), but they still got plenty of hours logged on hard courts.

Never had any problems with ankle twisting/rolling, pain in my souls, or other pains associated with tennis shoes, and this, while logging *A LOT* of hours on the court. I play 3-5 times a week, and approx 2 hours per session, sometime playing every day of the week.

Anyway, thanks a bunch to Wilson for making a great shoes, and to TW for choosing me to review these great shoes. Two thumbs up.

Now, out with the old:

And on to the new: (sneak peek of the new K-Swiss Misoul tennis shoes just sent to me by TW, to complete yet another review). Life is good !!!!!

I'll be posting more photos of these shoes later on this weekend. !

Oh my god, those shoes look like they've been to hell and back. Glad to know that they didn't become bad after 6 months. I tried them on after reading the review. They were comfy, but they didn't breathe well for me. But hey, what works for you works for you.

are these the new versions of the trance? our wilson rep brought out the new shoes that were coming out this year last december. one thing i noticed is that there was not much ankle support in the new ones. One can pretty much grip the shoe and twist it completely around in hand. maybe they fixed this before the official release, but i found the new ones to be a bit flimsy in hand.

however, this could have been resolved, or you could have an older version i dont know. thanks for the review on the shoes, very nice.

Wow dude thats crazy they held up that long. Ive been disappointed with the durability of my last two shoes (Diadora speed fire and new balance 882). The 882 also gave me calluses on the outside of my pinky toes and never got comfortable. I'll check these out for sure.
