Default how much does the tennis trainer earn?

How much does a tennis trainer earn if he is coaching a top 20 player? Do they take a % on wins?

as far as I know, it could be different types of arrengements. but something standar for a permanent coach is around 15%. but top players prefer to pay a "salary" to their coaches. this info is first hand for a former pro (ex #78 )

Wow 15% is a lot! Is that why Federer didn't have Tony Roche for a long time?

I don't think its 15% of the earnings. I am sure there is some flat rate also.

15% maybe if its a long time coach.

Well when you are on the rise and your coach seems to help out a lot, 15% is not that much, beeing that you think he is the one who enables you to achieve results. Latter people have all kinds of deals with coaches incl tennis federations paying a portion of their coaching fees. 15% is the usual rate though.

Federer & Roche - not sure how did they handle the payment but knowing that Fed earns a lot I am sure he did not offer a percentage.

Are you talking about a coach or a physical trainer. They are usually different people.

They are almost always different. I think we are all refering to coaches. not people in charge of physical preparation. As if Brad Gilert, Tony Roach and similar.

Just as the role of the coach varies from one player to another the pay arrangements for coaches can also vary. Some coaches get a flat salary, some get a %, some salaries are incentive based with bonuses given depending on results and rankings, and some are combinations of all of the above. Physios or fitness trainers usually, but not always, work for a flat salary.
