Not sure if they are still there, but there were outdoor red clay courts in Norwich, at Mohegan Park ( I think that is the name of the park). It has been 6 years since I left Connecticut but these were public courts. I saw Mal Washington and His brother, play an exhibtion match against the Jensens, about 8 years ago, on those courts.

Default red clay courts in Norwich

Can anyone confirm that these outdoor red clay courts in Norwich still exist? And if so, give some cross streets or something?

Thanks-

(or any other red clay courts in CT)

Ace.. I Just looked on Mapquest..The courts ARE/were in Mohegan park. If you know where Bacus Hospital is.. take RT 32 south to Mohegan Park Rd, Take a left and as you enter the park stay straight for about 1/4-1/3 mile, the courts are on your left opposite a Park Admin Building which, would be on your right.

Sorry to rivive this ancient thread but yes I live right near these courts and they are still here. I actually own a book written by the guy who built these courts and its all about how they were built, clay, etc. It also has pictures of the Japanese Davis cup team that came here and played on them, pretty cool. If anyone in CT is looking to play give me a holler. jebzino@yahoo.com.

Send me an email if you're interested. I'm around Hartford.

Hey man, welcome to the warm city of Hartford usually right now people are doing their winter leagues or ladders in different clubs. There are not a lot of posters here from the Hartford area......... I can give you recommendations of some ways to hit around the area this time or in the summer months. You can email me on here.

Too bad you're not closer to New Haven, otherwise we could have hit. If you're 4.0, the best thing to do is find a local club that's doing a "tennis party". People show up and are randomly paired with others to play a set or two of doubles. Then they are rotated through out the night. It's great social way of finding other peeps to hit with. That's how I found a majority of the partners I play with now.

How did the hit go? North Haven would be a long haul from Groton. Especially since we don't know the other guy's car situation.

We were supposed to hit tonight, he signed up for a ladder at East Hartford tonight, my elbow has been nagging for few days. But Zidane is in Hartford for a while so we will hit sometime. I will have him sign up too for the Ct Tennis Circuit during the summer.

Innovashaun is in the other thread...... Ill keep checking with him. Where do you play in the winter?

I play at Tennis Central in Woodbridge. It's a bubble so it's not the most luxurious of clubs, but I'm not complaining since they treat us very well there.

Default Madison Beach Club - 10 clay courts

I think it's a private club.
Looks like Har-Tru, based on satellite image on Google Maps.
