I've had my X-2 Stringer for ~a year now and as I was preparing to string up my sticks, the gripper on my tensioner flew off. Can I simply reapply it with superglue or should I get it serviced? Kinda concerning though, because I don't want to damage my frame or tear string mid-stringing.

Don't have pics since I'm at work. The sandpaper-like material that grips the string while tensioning, fell off the tensioner. That's the best description I can give.

What do you mean flew off? Both of the gripper jaws? I think it's usually screwed on, but i'd wait for Gamma Tech to answer.

Hmm based on your description I would contact Bret, the technician at Gamma about your problem.
Would you mind posting pics when you get home from work? Also why are you on at work? ![]()

It sounds like the diamond dusting came off. I doubt it'll hurt your racquets. The string may slip though. Try this. I've heard it from YULitle before. Try putting a rubberband around one of the jaws so it holds better.

My gripper still looks like this. ![]() The sandpaper-like material that lines the inside (where the string actually comes in contact with) fell off. ![]()

Oh, it that case I believe you can try the YULitle trick I mentioned. It should hold the string because the rubber band isn't smooth and has some texture. The diamond coating just helps hold the string.

Hmmm. That is odd. I would contact Bret with Gamma. If it is in warranty, they should replace it for you.

the diamond coated plates are held on with a 2 part loctite. the gripper is made from re-enforced fiberglass and you could probably get something at a local hardware store.
also you can call me @ 800.333.0337 x226 or email me with the serial number, purchase date, store purchased, etc and we can talk about it further. bret |

yes you can. remove it by removing the 4 hex bolts and keep track of the springs. the loctite that GAMMA uses is loctite 330 and loctite activator 7386. apply the activator to diamond insert and the 'glue' to the gripper and follow loctite's directions.

I didn't see the two products you mentioned on the Loctite website. Are there commercial names for those two products or can you suggest alternatives?

you can find it on www.mcmaster.com it ain't cheap though. i've never used anything else but i'm sure that something else would work, probably a local hardware store could help.
