Default Knee pain

For the past few days I have been having sharp pains in my left knee. It started on Saturday so I rested it on till Tuesday. I went to have a hit with my friends when i started to have the pain again. Its a sharp pain on the top of my knee and it only hurts when it is bend and has weight on it its perfectly fine when I walk but when I go down my stairs it starts to hurt. What could be the problem. I have in decent shape I run and play tennis a few hours most every day. I did tae kwn do as a kid so I think my knee's are in fairly good shape too.

Does it feel like anything is moving? My knee felt like it was misaligned before and a knee brace corrected it no problem. You probably pulled something and it could happen in a second. I hurt my knee the same way (that sharp pain, not the dislocated feeling) getting off a workout machine at the gym. It went away in a few weeks when I went easy on it.

ive had and still have exactly what you are talking about so i went to the doctors. i was diagnosed with chondromalacia (look it up on wikipedia) it is very common in such sports such as tennis when knees are put to their limit where there is twisting side to side movements. You have nothing to worry about it is extremely common in young athletes who participate in sports.
