Gamma 5003 clamps

Are those spring assisted? What is the gamma terminology for clamps whether they are spring assisted or not?

I think the Cam lock means spring assisted. Just look at the clamp bases. If they are black and you can see the top of a screw, 99% chance it is a conelock base. Usually the silver ones are spring assisted.

I can get a Gamma 6004 for $1168 or a Gamma 5003 for $808 are the spring assisted clamps worth the extra $300

Depends if you want to spend the extra cash for just something that will speed up stringing, then I guess it would be worth it. Cone lock are a bit of a hassle. That's the only thing I regret of my machine.

It depends on how many racquets you will be doing. If you see yourself doing a decent volume of rackets the spring assisted is a nice feature to have. If not then save the $360 and keep it in your pocket.

Can you get a gamma 5003 w/ spring assisted? or just the 6004?

IMO, if you're spending that much on a machine, especially one that is high quality, get the spring assisted clamps.

Plus, how many racquets are you doing?

Also, if you're unable to get the Gamma 5003 with spring assisted, i'm guessing there are some other features of the gamma 6004 that are better than the 5003 besides the clamp bases.

Just checked the gamma 6004 against the 5003.

Glaring differences:
-Spring assisted clamps on the 6004
-self centering mounting on the 6004

Well you can get the spring assisted clamps on the 5003 but it is not worth it. It is just a better deal overall to just get the 6004.

this isn't the only different, the mounting system is the self centering and the suspension mounting system. both good quality but nice if you are doing more rqts.

What is the difference between suspension and non suspension? Is it a big money making difference? And does the Revo have it?

Suspension mounting is faster to mount a rqt. there is one knob to move both arms in together and coupled with a self-center turntable it would be quicker than moving each post of the quick mount, tighten it, then adjusting 3 knobs per side. time savings would add up if you are doing a lot of rqts. revo is more like our quick mounting system with 3 knobs. the Apex 2 would be similar to suspension mounting system on the 6004.

Hmm, so with suspension mounting, do you move the main tower much? Or do they for the most part stay there and you move the independent little post things on the towers?

Well on the Gamma 6004, it is just like mounting on any other machine except instead of moving the posts individually, you move the posts with the turn of a knob. The center billards do not move at all if I am right. Then you use the knob and adjust the side arms.

On the Apex II, you adjust the center billards with the flip of a switch the same knob changes to the knob that adjusts the side arms.

The center frame support (12 & 6 o'clock) are adjustable on the 6004 but the main adjusting you do is with the main towers. since the turntable is self-centering it takes away most of the need to adjust the frame supports. the frame support knob is underneath of the big knob, a little bit hidden.

Yea, I noticed the hidden knob on the manual.


What exactly is a self centering table opposed to a self centering mounting system? Or is it essentially the same thing?
