In other transfer news, who do you think will be the biggest movers come January? My bet is Zaki, all the big clubs will be after him now! Maybe this shows that Middle Eastern football isn't as bad as most people say it is! If Zaki continues his run of form, woah. Look out. My bet is that he goes to Liverpool. Word has it that both United and Chelsea have made inquiries, however. Wouldn't be surprised if City made an offer as well seeing how their new owners may want a Middle Eastern player in their team, and he'd be the right man, I think. But who knows?! What do you guys think?
Never heard of a loan move?

So we sacked our coach Bruce Rioch. And that was about time. Ok, we lost 6-3 to Villareal (crazy result) but in the national league we are at the very bottom. This guy has done nothing good for the team, and I think it's fair that he leaves now, even though his contract expires this winter.
Hopefully we'll start to get some points in the national league and get a lucky win in a home match in Champions League, so we make it to the Uefa Cup.

No shame in losing to Udinese at all! Di Natale is a quality player, he is one of the best around at playing wide in a front 3. Quagliarella was also so impressive.. his work rate was first class and he was also dangerous when going forward.

As for Ramos, he's going nowhere! It would be far too expensive to get rid of him.. plus.. who the hell would want to come in and replace him? It's not the manager as such who's getting it wrong (although the diet he has his players on and the fact he was touting for a job in England for 2 years before he got one, yet even now he can hardly speak a word of English doesn't help the players either. How can he communicate what he wants them to do?). It's the Director of Football that is the main problem, it's a Continental style of doing things but at the moment, they are doing it all wrong.

Fena, I have a question: Where do you think Zaki will be playing next season (if he keeps up his current form throughout the season)? I personally can see a few places that he could really work out well at! I say if he doesn't stay with Wigan, he should go to Aston Villa, especially if they get a UEFA cup spot this season. He'd probably be playing week-in-week-out but have a bit more quality surrounding him so it'd allow him to progress a lot more, and actually have a chance to do something big! I can't see him going to a big club (even though the papers had it this morning that Real has already made an inquiry to his club back in Egypt), except for one, Chelsea. I can see him making this move especially if FloMo, Anelka, or Drogs move on at the end of the season (or retire). He's a good 5-6 years younger than our current batch of first-choice strikers (besides DiSanto) and he could be good foil to DiSanto next season (big striker partnered with smaller, powerful striker) and things could work quite well for him. Here, let me know what you think of this forward line that we could use next season:

DiSanto - Zaki (strikers)
J. Cole (attacking mid/supporting striker)

Or if we bought him and another striker so we could play something like this

4-1-1-1-3

Cole - Terry - Carvalho - Bosingwa
Essien
Lampard (or Ballack)
J. Cole
DiSanto - Zaki - ?? (take your pick of any striker that we're usually pursuing! eg. Benzema, Huntelaarr, David Villa, etc...Maybe a winger like Hatem Ben Arfa, who would be SICK btw)

That kind of formation would be AWESOME and could work wonders. Let me know what you think and maybe even think up something like a formation that could make good use of all our players while at the same time opening up to exploit the talents of our new signings?

I see you've put alot of thought into this!

Where do I see him ending up? Well, apparently Wigan have the first option to sign him as part of the loan deal, he says he loves it at Wigan and they are an improving team with a good chairman and coach. I believe he will probably end up at Wigan personally, if not then Liverpool.

As for Chelsea's formation next year, we need to set up to our strengths - the midfield. If Lampard, Deco, Ballack and Essien are all fit then how do they fit in the team? Mikel is pretty much nailed on to be the holding midfielder and there's no way Lampard will miss out. I think the back 4 and keeper will remain the same with Mikel, Lampard and either Ballack/Essien in midfield with Deco on the left of a front 3, Joe Cole on the right and a big front man up top like Fabiano, Benzema, Huntelaar if Drogba's injuries don't go away, if they do then Drogba will start as number 1.

It's pretty much the same idea/side that played Portsmouth on the first day of the season when everyone (except Drogba and Essien) were fit. It looks like thats the way Scolari wants to do things and I can't see him making too many new buys in the windows (a striker for sure like you say, but I don't think he'll start ahead of Drogba at first). In that game Deco didn't play like a typical winger, he drifted wherever he wanted so was basically just an extra midfielder along with Lampard and Ballack.. that allowed Joe Cole to move in and act as more of a second striker (as you suggested).

So yeah, I can't see many formation or personnel changes happening for a while. When everyone is fit (which is rare with the 2-3 games a week + Internationals) then it'll be pretty close to the first day of the season, when there are injuries then we'll see something similar to what we have now with the 2 more conventional wingers. It all comes down to the big guns in the centre of midfield.

Well then, look how that turned out! What do I think about Harry's appointment? Al I can say is, it's a shame his managerial talents will be wasted in the Championship next season (sorry Ross, I couldn't resist!)

It was a shock! The eve before a vital game and all that. It could end up costing them around £20 Million too.

Teamtomo,

Watch this space re membership.

All TTFC members,

To say I'm presently somewhat stunned would just about describe it...

Re the last 24 hours or so at Spurs (a period incidentally when I've actually been out of London and so all these developments are very new to me)... Ramos and Poyet sacked... Harry Redknapp poached and installed for 5 million... and then... (wait for it)... Spurs win for the 1st time this season!?... football 'eh?... bloody hell!...

Maybe I should go away on holiday more often?

Harry Rednapp left his team again for another big team with big money in just a night. First winning for Spurs under his supervision. 2-0 against poor Bolton.

Liverpool won't win it, no way. They don't know what it takes to win the Premier League, look at Arsenal last year. Wenger is a better domestic manager than Benitez but even he couldn't keep Arsenal going for the entire year. They were unstoppable up until that FA Cup defeat to Man Utd then it just all unravelled, that will happen to Liverpool at some point too.

Can you imagine if Liverpool were still in the race with a month to go? They don't have the players or the manager who have been there before to get results when it gets hard. If they come close this year then they can learn what it takes for next season.. but not this one.

Man Utd or Chelsea will win it, no doubts.

The thing is though mate, Arsenal couldn't keep it up because they didn't have enough depth in their squad. I personally think Liverpool have just about enough depth to keep it up but I still don't think they will win the prem just on the fact that United & Chelsea are more capable of winning the title & more likely keep up form (yes I know Chelsea lost to them but I mean Chelsea & United just have more of a pedigree).

We do yeah, we both have squads who know exactly how to win the League. Liverpool don't have that yet.

I think of this as Liverpools transition year. Next year all of us better watch out cuz they're getting the hang of this "winning in the prem" stuff.
