I like the pop sound even though I don't use the dampeners, I am more aware of whether or not I am hitting the sweetspot without dampener. Just feel more connected to the racquet.

actually it depends on the racket. i´ve used vibration dampers since switching from wood to graphite, but recently started playing without one
when hitting with my PK Redondo. i feel i don´t need one with that racket, also older PK models like Silver Ace. They sound good without vibras, unlike all the wilsons and heads i´ve played. |

I use the Wilson W or the Head clear. Mostly because I hate the undampened sound.

I use a vibration dampener but getting tired of losing it after a restring and they cost a lot money. I used rubber bands but always broke or fell of after a few hits but just figured out a new way to tie which i saw in another thread so going to try tomorrow and hope it works =)

i tie it on the normal way, but instead of leaving the loops, i tuck the loops in on the backside so theyre not sticking out, i dont like how that looks
when its tucked in it looks like a solid mass of rubber, i used to use no dampener because i liked the extra feel, but i started using a lighter racket and it began to hurt my wrist, the lighter racket and the switch when i went from graphite shafted golf clubs that were perimeter weighted to forged steel shafted clubs side note, i think the physics thing (a 2g dampener on a 300g racket striking a 60g ball) needs a citation, because i can definately feel a difference when i use a rubber band. |

i just use a simple rubberband...with no vibration dampener..theres to much vibration...with a rubberband you get vib dampening and feel.thats why i use one.

I use dampeners just to get rid of the pingy noise.. which really disturbs me when I play... I wouldn't say there's much of a kill in the feel of the racquet though.

I've tried nearly all the damps that the current market has to offer (buying/testing damps is kindof an obsession of mine). I've concluded that the Wilson Smiley Face is the BEST. It dampens and gives you a "thock" sound, yet you still retain A LOT of feel. Everything else is either ineffective or kills 100% of the feel.
I'm currently testing the Yonex Stopper 5, which feels exactly the same. Its just a matter of looks now...

Donnay Vibrazorb... mutes vibration in the stringbed more than anything else I've tried. Feel is over-rated. I like my racquet to feel crisp and solid, and I hate the poinging sound racquets make when they have no dampening. Of course, I am dreading the day (coming soon) when I wear through my last Vibrazorb, since they are now impossible to find.

I use one ever since I bought my aero pro drive racket, because I was constantly hitting it out without the dampener. Now that I'm used to it I might try taking the dampener off to hit at full power again. Hopefully it won't start going out again

Tecnifibre Vibra Clip - small enough to cut out just enough vibration and the annoying ping while leaving feel intact.
