My highest ranking in the twelves group was 27 in georgia. my ranking now in fourteen's is 173(I'll bring it up since I've only played seven tournaments). So what would my nptr rating be(guess).

They usually say I'm a 4.0-4.5 rated player, depending if I'm having a good or bad day. It's considered amazing for a 14 year old, so I hope I'll be joining some big tournaments in the future.

i just turned 13 and I'm a 4.5-5.0 (i've heard from adults) and I was only in the 40's of my section, Florida. My national ranking was only in the like 400-600s.

Bro, if you were a 5.0 you would be playing at a Division II college. No way in hell is a 13 year old a 5.0. And yes, a 4.0-4.5 is amazing for a 14 year old. Please, get your facts straight before posting

Depends completely on how long you've been playing, so there really is no average. If this helps, its definitley not a 5.0 or even remotley close to that. Cut of age is 18, 18 and above you recieve NTRP ratings

Wow, are they playing college tennis? If what you say is true, they'll be pros by the time there 16. look at this thread http://tt.tennis-warehouse.com/showthread.php?t=131731
Tonlars is a 5.5 playing DII college tennis. You honestly think these measly 14 year olds can compete with an alleged DII college player? Enlighten me |

I have a friend who's 16, and beats our adult friend who plays 5.0 singles and 5.5 doubles, but then again, he's a couple of years older. He doesn't play many tournaments though, because he's not into it, but played at tennis academies.

The confusion comes from the difference between: the NTRP ratings chart descriptions, and NTRP level league/tournament results. Since a good 14 year old probably could have all the shots and fairly sound technique, I can see where one could think a kid is a 4.5-5.0, because they cant place him any lower from the chart descriptions. But then adults or people who play leagues, base people's rating strictly on results or complete playing ability. They know that almost any 14 year old wont beat a decent 4.5 mens player, so you can see what theyre saying as well.
