I think high speed refers to the frames of the camera. What kind of camera is this again?

You just don't know what high speed video is.

I am sure it is not only you.

This may help.

Quote:
What is High-Speed Video?

High-speed video is a diagnostic tool that helps engineers and researchers analyze high-speed processes. It is a sequential series of images that are recorded at very high frame rates and played back in slow-motion to allow the viewer to see, measure and understand events that happen too fast for the unaided eye to see.

Standard camcorders can only record at 30 frames per second and, as a result, usually miss most of the action in fast-moving events. However, if we use high-speed digital cameras to record these events at hundreds or even thousands of frames per second, it’s a different story. When we play the images back in slow motion, or even stop and examine a single frame, we can see details that go unnoticed at normal speed.

Funny that nobody ever mentions it in real life, and lots of people do when watching the video.

Never realized how much I did it until I saw myself on video.

OCD at work I guess.

One of my coaches used to say that about everyone. Actually to describe many american players it is true...very technical and as a result a little on the stiff side. That is the way many americans play football (soccer) also. They can get things done on the court of course but it is not as light on the feet or as smooth as it could be. Not to generalize but any chance you are either Spanish or Latin American?!

Hit one in high speed but was off the screen.

I will look through and see if I can find a short clip, but Vimeo only lets me upload 500mb per week and I am almost totally used up, I only have like room for 15 secs of video left.

I can put up the one hander too.

That's true. Guilty as charged. I had hit with him and could not stop gushing about how good he was to my friends.

That Bulgarian cat said he'd play you and when I told him your credentials, he took it as a good challenge. My money's on you, but the Bulgarian cat's quick from his table tennis days.

What are you talking about? I noticed a lot of weight shifting. On Jolly's forehand, his body did a counter-clockwise circular rotation and the right foot moved from behind to front at the finish. That's massive circular + linear shifting right there!!!

I hit with Jolly before. From my perspective on the other side of the net, I didn't notice that he has a huge take back at all. What I noticed was the massive swing and finish - I was able to actually see the racket head on the right side of his body when he finished the forehand.

One thing I didn't see anyone mentioned was Jolly's backhand. Under slow motion, it has this "pushing" action going on at the point of contact, doesn't it? Is this "textbook" good, or a flaw?

Nice video!, I think both shots look nice. One piece of advice though, Im in the proccess of changing from a 1 handed to a 2 HBH, and the first thing my pro told me is that I should fully extend my arms on contact...yours seem to be a bit flex when hitting the ball. Same thing with your forehand, maybe trying to change the contact point a little bit more in front of your body would help.

I though that quality of HS video would only be possible to get with a big and expensive video camera...you got it with a small digital one? Thats great!

It looks like pushing just because both arms are bent, I hate it. Want to concentrate on getting the left arm straight, but I bend it because I take the racquet back too far.

I hate the bent arms, but it is Soooo much easier on my wrist.

Working towards straighter arms, and more compact takebacks. Video will be a good indicator of progress.

Sounds like a plan, tell him to train hard all winter. For in the springtime The Jolly takes on all challengers.

Wow, I'm impressed with the video image quality. Especially as it's not a dedicated video camera. **sigh** I wish I could actually afford a decent camera.
