Was checking out Hewitt's charity auction where Rafa's APD used during Wimbledon is up for grabs. If you look at the up close pic of the throat, there are ridges, indicating cortex?! I thought he used a pj of the APDC?Or could my eyes be decieveing me?
BTW its at $10500!I hope its the real thing or the buyer is duped! http://www.eswap.com.au/auction_deta...tion_id=226913

Thank goodness, I thought I was seeing things! Could it be just a "publicity" racquet; it really wasn't played at Wimbledon? If so, thats a travesty. So much money for a signature on a racquet you can buy at TW.

The racket was "used" by Nadal? There's no way a real used racket could look that clean after a tournament at pro level.
MAYBE the autograph is real, but as far as I know, that could be fake too.

Its been pretty publicized though that Nadal gave that to Hewitt. So I would think at least the signaiture is real.

well the signature looks real. but nadal doesnt usually place the rubber piece over his finishing tape on his grips (he just uses the finishing tape, you can see the babolat label on it)
and those strings don't look like duralast, theyre almost completely opaque, rather than transparent. plus that grip is clean as a whistle, and VS overgrips get dirty in almost no time at all.

A racquet used at Wimbledon could in fact look immaculate....grass doesn't cause scratches. Grass stains wipe off.

FWIW...I have professional color calibrated displays, and I can see yellowing on the grip bevels. It doesn't look like a brand new grip to me.

Or .... It's uncle Toni's ....LOL. It's still a Nadal racquet. LOL. sucka!!!

Nadal may have given it to him but so far it doesn't seem like the one he actually uses. The buyer is dooped.

I've been reading a lot about Nadal using an APD painted as APDC, but found no proof of it. I searched the threads and nothing....maybe I'm just not looking hard enough. Could someone please, show me where to find that proof. Thanks

That looks like the original grip, not an overgrip.

So that guy is spending $12,000 on a "fake" Nadal racquet/real cortex APDC
I sure that the signature is not worth like $11,815 But i guess its all for a good cause |

This might sound exceptionally stupid, but I was just thinking about this, because I have never gotten a real answer--who does paintjobs on pros' racquets? Are there professional painters hired by racquet manufactuers just to paint their sponsered pros' racquets? Any info would be much appreciated.
Sorry to hijack, Zidane. |

^^^^^
The racquets have the Cosmetics (Paint Job) put on at the Factory. Just like what is done to the consumer racquets. |
