As for Djoko - I don't think the stick really affected his game, he is just seeking something to blame for his loss.
You are quite right about the customization. I should have been more clear, in that I was referring to the change in frame design, head shape, possibly flex and string pattern etc for Stepanek.

Whereas Djokovic's change is more straight forward. I don't know that for sure, the rackets could be completely different (Djokovic).

I don't think we will ever know 100%. In principle you are right, the Djoko move is more of a "small step". Personally I think it is probably really, really close to his 2008 stick, his "complaints" are just sour grapes and looking for excuses.

i have a friend who won 6.0 houston ult tennis league and he can play with any racquet. once i was at the tennis center and they had about 30 vintage rackets lined up side by side on the wall, he said I can beat you with any of those.

my best friend was working at the tennis center so he didn't mind when i snagged the wilson t2000 and said, here bi@@@, try'n beat me w/this, lol

sure enough he beat me like 6-2. but in some ways wooden racquets play better than modern racquets.

I beat my 4.5 friend in 3 straight tiebreakers using a pancho gonzalez woodie and he was using his flexpoint prestige

Love the old Bosworth Fox 210 racquet that guys like Brad Gilbert used. This is an updated personalized version. The head looks a bit odd but plays very solidly and well.

Congratulations to Radek. he has won Brisbane using his new stick.

Congratulation to Bosworth as well...they should put the results up on their website.

Too bad this stick will not be mass produced but it's hard to compete unless you are one of the few tennis giants with a mass share of the market.
I really did enjoy the way mine played.

i was thinking the same thing. I emailed bosworth directly asking a question and got no reply. btw, they're based in Boca Raton Fl which i found interesting since a bunch of tennis pros live there like vince spadea etc...

He actually looks normal in that picture... Given he's... "smiling".

^^^^

I was about to say the same.... Noticed he does look much better with this post.

I think this is Radek's killer smile that attracted Hingis and Nicole V.

It looks like the sweetspot is located very high in the hoop by Bosworth.

WOWWWW!!!! I just got an email response from bosworth with my inquiry on Stepaneks' Racquet

Hello Lee,

Sorry for the delay in responding to your inquiry. As you mentioned, Radek Stepanek has indeed switched to our Bosworth Tour 96 racquet. We have been working with Radek for the past four years, helping him determine the optimal specs for his racquets. Once he had the opportunity to play on one of our own racquets he felt it was the best racquet he has ever played with. His results at the start of the 2009 season show that the transition has been a successful one!

Radek plays with quite a unique handle. His racquet has a handle that is quite wide (as opposed to the stock "Flat" shape on Volkl/Head racquets). We build a very large buttcap onto his handles, and build quite a lot of weight into the head of the racquet. The handle is gripped with a Bosworth leather grip, over which he is using an overwrap. Radek's racquet measures a standard length of 27 inches. The buttcap on Radek's racquet have his own "RS" logo in white on a blue background.

If you would like me to build you a racquet that is exactly the same as his I can do that. If you would prefer to get the same type of racquet but built to specs that would better suit your game I would be able to do that as well. I would need your contact and shipping information, and it would take about three days for the racquet to be built. Payment would be arranged over the telephone.

I hope you were able to watch the Final of the ATP Brisbane 2009 tournament yesterday. Radek worked very hard over the past 6 weeks and the hard work really paid off. We are very proud to be associated with him.

Best regards,

Jay Bosworth

Lee, that's a very nice mail, Jay looks like a cool guy.
Didn't know they build rackets for customers too, i thought only for pro's, strange...
Any idea about the price of such a racket?

^^^yeah, i think this is the only way to get a custom racquet the pros use unless u find some paintjobs on the bay. I sent an email asking if they could make me a replica of stepanek's racquet. how much do you think it would cost? over $200? i don't want to email them w/rates because i'm not really serious yet

i have a funny feeling that they sent that same email to a Lottt of people

I'm very sure it's more then 200$, it takes some skills to custom a racket like that, anyway keep us posted.

It´s interesting to see that Stepanek plays a racket that is constructed exactly how he likes it and still places lead on the frame.

If a K90 costs 200 bucks, and they are mass shipped from China by the thousands, how can you expect a custom racket that gets special attention from a true racket tech (not from some robotic factory worker), and is built to your specific desired specs to cost the same??

A K90 might cost you $200, but it costs Wilson nowhere near that mark to make it.
