is a knee brace/band something i need?
i find when im running, even after very short periods of time such as a sprint or even just when i start to warm up before a game, one of my knees will sometimes feel sharp pain, then go away after a few minutes but it comes and goes throughout sometimes ill go weeks without the pain then suddenly it can come back and just feel like a tearing sensation how does a band below the knee cap help this?

Hmmm....sensations of sharp pains in the knee may not be completely resolved with the use of a knee brace. The main purpose of a knee brace is to offer support when the knee is involved in high intensity action such as hard pivots / stops. I believe that the band below the knee (I'm assuming you are referring to knee jumpers) helps to deal with patella tendonitis...i'm not really sure how though (I'm no orthopedic doctor).
How old are you? If you are still young and are experiencing chronic pain in the knee i think it may be best to first visit an orthopedic doctor before purchasing any braces/bands. Is that a crab pinching a penis in your avatar? |

i'm only 19 and its not chronic, only randomly sometimes when i run/jump. for example today i went out to have a hit and i was jogging to warm up and 10seconds into my jog my knee just felt a really sharp pain so i had to sit down and rest it for a minute
came back once or twice but went away for the majority of the time and yeah it is haha

I think you should go to an orthopedic. It may be nothing but why take the chance?
And by orthopedic I mean real ones and not one of this internet guys like the one above me |
