Yes. I went to Azalea and practiced serves for a few hours. Then yesterday I played there with one of the guys for 1 and a half hours. It hurt pretty bad after hour 1. I am going to probably head up there tonight at around 7 so it will be a little more bearable.

bump...

can a 4.5+ in east orlando beat me like a drum please? this may be a strange request but I need a wakeup call. I lost today to an amazing player and it was a great feeling. I really needed that.

Thanks for the bump, I was getting ready to post something here to revive the thread. I'll save it for another time.

Power Player,

Are you playing around 4.5 now that you've been back for a little while?

Thats a damn good question. I would say definitley close, but to be hard on myself, I should say I'm a 4.0 still. I can hit from both wings to wherever I want, but I still have some off days. I have hit with a 5.0 player around my age and have had some great battles on long rallies where I won them with clean winners. Basically, the guy always wants to hit with me when we see each other, so I know I'm not wasting his time. I also can win points clean off slice and drop shots, so I am not just banging everytime.

I won't have a great idea on my ranking until I start with the tournaments again. Which is my upcoming goal.

can relate to the off days...have to limit the nightly beer intake. that said, the following day played rough and lost the 1st set but the next 2 were mine...gotta thank the serve.

this rain thing keeps interrupting tennis play...the space shuttle crew must really be feeling it.

I was playing great about a month ago when I beat the top 5.0 at our club twice in a row, but now my forehand is off again. Way too many framers. I'm probably going to demo some heavier, but still head light rackets in the next few weeks. I need something a little more stable. I'm just hoping it doesn't hurt my 1 handed topspin backhand which I'm hitting very well at the moment. The problem is all of my opponents are smart and have taken note of my forehand problems and are giving me plenty to hit!

if you're hitting the 1HBH topspin well with an oversized lightweight racquet then u are doing something. going to a heavier mid+ should be a breeze for u.

I've hit with one person from this thread. never got a response from others, however.

I have two solid hitting partners but I feel like I need to hit with a variety of players in order to improve at this stage... yesterday was probably the first time I felt completely helpless out on the court, but it was a good sign that I need more experience.

Where are you located?

have hit with half a dozen or so but scheduling is the tricky part. i'm about 15-20 minutes from UCF. send me an email thru my signature and see if we can set up a day/time.

Frankie runs Azalea? I didn't know that. I actually told him I was playing there monday when I picked up a racquet and he said "that's a great facility" and that was it.

Yeah, I asked him what was going on with OTC last week. He said it will be run by the City for a while. There was a rumor that in August it would be run by a private contractor. He bid against Etennis to run Azalea and apparently won. It appears those two will also compete to run OTC when the City is ready to turn it over. As long as MG Tennis stays out of the running, I think things will be fine. I just wish they could fix the courts that are flooded every morning from evening showers the night before.
