Leg Position for BH DTL or CC

When hitting a one handed BH should you change your front leg position when hitting down the line VS. CC or should you just swing later for DTL while keeping the same foot position.
There are times I am setup for a CC and I notice that DTL is not covered.
Should I move my front leg to open my stance or just swing a drop later.
