We can? We do? We don't even have any helicopters that work at the moment & there would be a huge public outcry if money was spent on nuclear weapons. The NYT comments that several countries could have nuclear weapons in months. Of course any country with the inclination could have nuclear weapons in months if they so desired (you know, the money thing) But we're not so inclined, prefering to spend our money on our free health care system. And yes, some of my best friends are American.

Henman will win Wimbledon this year anyway so it has its correct place.
Also it's the home of the game. Liam |

Aha Pound Cat - now we've got you ! Obliviously you wouldn't be so quick to deny your intentions with regards to those stock piles of reprocessed fuel if you weren't intending to make a nuclear device. And flaunting your socialist system shows a disregard for proper capitalist thinking which clearly means you are in line with terrorists.
no one expects the Spanish inquisition ! |

Cypo,
You're very quick to jump on the bandwagon against Pound Cat. Could it be to take some of the attention away from yourself? |

Suddenly we jumped to a quite different subject. Nice! Just to add my 2 cents, in the case of South America, anti-americanism is indeed strong. It's probably already part of our culture. Not unduly, though, given the support and sponsorship, by US gov't, of bloody dictatorships in Chile, Argentina and Brazil in the 70's. Anti americanism was at its lowest during the Clinton administration, who was seen, in Brazil at least, as having honest intentions regarding (some) world peace and international prosperity. But Bush difinitely threw it all down the drain. Let me make it clear that this does not reflect my personal opinion, except for Mr. "Arbusto", a disgrace to the US and the rest of the world. I really admire the fact the the most harsh criticism made to the US comes from the US. Very few countries are fortunate enough to have a Michael Moore, 60 Minutes, Paul Krugman, NYT, Washington Post...

There are so many arguments going on in the tw boards right now, I'm about to start checking under the floor boards for the pink ooze stuff in Ghostbusters 2.

Bob Murray,
Please tell me when I have made a prejudicial comment about another country or another group. I am "American," so I will defend my own. If you go back and check the old boards, you will notice that I have said that we, as "Americans," police our own quite nicely, thank you. This garbage kicked up at the end of last year's US Open, where we had all manner of people coming on doing the "Americans are_____" stuff. Some guy comes on berating and attacking us for jingoism, blah blah blah. A few others and I defended, then were berated for being defensive. You can go back and read it all if you want. Just do a search for "jingoism." If you wish to jump in and defend them or discuss the matter with Phil, or anyone else, help yourself. By the way, the term racist was quoted from another person, and I chose not to argue syntax, as people get all cranky and say, "Well, you knew what I meant!" or better yet, "Stop being so picky about my word choice!" Going to my nephew's baseball game, now. Let me know if I missed anything, Bob. |

And in answer to your question, apparently not as much as you think you did. |
