the klippermate is a decent stringer, can't tell you much about the eagnas though. i used to string with a klippermate until i had a very bad experience with the 2 point mounting system and ditched it for a 6 point mouting system.

The Klippermate is an outdated model. Get a Gamma X-2. Same price, almost same machine, has a ratchet which makes it MUCH easier to string. Both cost $135. If you do intend to get a 6 point mounting machine, go for the Gamma X-6 which is $299.

You can check these out at http://www.atssports.com and http://www.klippermateusa.com

If you want my opinion. Since you clearly want to save money, the 2 point is enough. Lots of people use a 2 point and can string just as good as a 6 point. 6 point does offer a bit of security especially on high tensions, but if you know what you're doing, 2 point is enough. Also 6 point kind of slows you down. Oh yeah both companies are VERY repuatable. Gamma is IMO the most reputable stringing machine company. I think most people would agree. Klippermate machines are built like a rock as well. Offers a lifetime warranty as well. You can't go wrong with any of these 3 machines. Good luck!

I second 156. Set your budget and get the Gamma over the Klippermate/Hawk. You will find a few Klippermate users here and they are pretty loyal. For my money I would go with the Gamma - just figure out how much you can spend and go for it...

I would highly recomend that you try and get a fixed clamp machine as opposed to flying clamps. After 10 years I switched from a dropweight flying clamp machine to a fixed clamp crank machine. The single biggest improvement are the clamps. The string jobs are far, far, more consistent, and accurate. A fixed clamp dropweight would be a great starter machine.
