We are in the process of getting our neighborhood's courts resufaced. I thought resurfacing lasts about 5 years. I think we are going with the US Open blue. Something a little different. I played on blue courts in Clearwater this past weekend. I liked them.

Mikeler - we should play some time since we live so close. Id meet you at OTC. Never played there. I know you are busy with a baby, but we should try to arrange it. I have a flexible work schedule and can make any time work. Some thing to think about.

I'm booked this weekend, but maybe we can play next week or the weekend after that. If you can beat Robert, I know we would have a good match.

Yeah, Robert has told me about your game. Says your a strong player. It would be a challenge. Check your schedule - next weekend is going to be tough with Labor day. I have family in town and also going to the Gator game saturday night. The following week, Sept 12, is a tournament at Lake Cane. Can you squeeze it in during the week? Check it out and let me know. There is no private message on this board - is there?

I just sent you an e-mail. Let's set it up that way. Have a good weekend. Man, can't believe football season is almost here. Woohoo!

Talked to Frankie this morning. He is going to appeal the decision about Winter Park.

Played like crap today. My AC went out last night and I did not sleep well. Fortunately, a buddy of mine has an AC business so he fixed it after my match. It was on my mind the whole match though. My elbow was killing me but did not hinder my game, so that was good. Luckily it was a cheap fix.

I played 6 hours this weekend. I started at 5 and honestly the heat was so brutal and painful until after 7 that I thought I was going to pass out. As soon as the sun dropped a little, I got a little energy and started feeling better...but damn.

I played at 8 AM both mornings this weekend. It was not bad at all. The humidity was much lower than the past few days.

Luckily my opponent yesterday hates slow kick serves so I could give my elbow a break. I'd throw in the occasional heater which would catch him off guard and normally get an ace or service winner with it.

I'm going to try and get out there with ssgator80 sometime this week if the rain holds off.

No rain this weekend = no shade either. You and bad_call must be partying youngsters if you can't handle an 8 AM match.

haha..I can handle it some days..but yeah I went to this thing downtown called Skip Day where it was free beers for hours plus I ran into a female I needed to spend some time with...so..yeah..I slept in pretty late. The week really hits me hard on saturday AM.

I'm surprised frank is appealing..I just read that. I don't understand why he is so adament about running a place where basically nobody wants him to run it..lol. He would hate the whole experience. Everyone at Azalea is extremely happy with the current situation. I just think an appeal is a bad idea from talking to the members.

staying up late + 8 AM matches = play crappy.

Do you have a link for that story? I'm not surprised he is appealing because of the money involved. I used to get up at 6:30 AM every day for work until the last few weeks. Now the baby has me up around 6:00 AM most days so I actually have a decent wait until I get to play at 8 AM.

Not all of the Azalea members are thrilled with e-tennis winning the bid. There's a ton of emails going around for both sides. I cant blame him for appealing since he was told he had the gig. At the same time, I can't blame e-tennis for appealing him. As I've said, my only interest is quality courts and being able to get a court when I want one.

Court maintenance is most important, but the number of courts taken for lessons is pretty important to me. It's so difficult to get courts at Fort Gatlin and Lake Cane because they hog all the courts for lessons. If all the courts are working at OTC, you have a pretty good chance at booking a clay court most of the time.

That is a big concern for me too, tournaments, lessons etc.. I want to be able to get a court when I want one!

I'm glad you brought up tournaments. That is another thing they do all the time on the weekends at the MG Tennis run facilities. OTC usually has just 2 tournaments per year. They usually have a small one in the spring and then the Big Citrus Classic with Open and Club divisions. That one is right around Xmas when many people are out of town anyways, so that is a great time to hold a tournament. Compare this to the 12 adult and 28 junior tournaments that MG Tennis holds at Lake Cane/Fort Gatlin!

Azalea currently doesn't have too many either, just the women's seniors in the fall on the clay and the Varner.

The Citrus Classic is a good one to keep around.

The cool thing about the Citrus is you can finish your match and then go over and watch a guy who is 250 in the world play on the court next to you. Amer Delic won it a few years ago. One year they payed Robert Kendrick an appearance fee to come out and hit with people. Seeing that huge serve up close is impressive.
