i'm considering teh silent partner swing witch is drop weight it has 6 point mounting, and a clutch on the drop weight so that u just grab teh bar and place it in teh position u wnt instead of re-installing the string every time the bar is not horizontal teh machine costs 199$ so well with my budget 199$-299$.

I was just wondering since u do not disable the tension before you clamp does that make a drop weight machine constant pull????

Is it possible to prestretch the string on a drop weight machine?????

Do the silent partner e.stringers witch are like 50$ more have constant pull?????

how much should you overtension when tying a knot?????

AND FINALLY about how long does it take to string WITH experience on these 3 machines just for comparing 1, (low end) silent partner swing 2, (middle) one of those crank machines 3, (high end) BABOLAT SENSOR!!!!!!! lol

thnx for the answers...

last question. once i buy is ther any upgrades i can get like new clamps??? or are the ones on the sp decent??? (they are flying clamps)

A drop weight machine is considered to be constant pull. Gravity never quits
pulling . If you double pull the string, it is similar to prestretching on an electric machine. However, I think it is more consistent to prestretch off of the machine. It is debatable as to whether the e-stringers are true constant pull. It depends on how much tension drop has to occur before the tensioning mechanism detects it and repulls the string. The e-stringers are also said to be subject to inconsistency in the tension they pull due to variations in line voltage because they use an AC motor. You might want to see if they address these questions on their website or give them a call. I have seen recommendations of anywhere from 4-8 lbs. for overtensioning on tie-offs. I don't worry about it. You don't hit the ball out there any way, right? Most stringers can get down to 30-45 mins. on a normal drop weight with practice. Some may be able to do it faster with a LF machine. I've seen it done in <15 mins. using a crank machine or a good electric machine.

thnx i mite also consider the gamma x-6 but the only advantage of that over the swing is it has a quicker mounting system and it looks sexier, i plan to string about 2 maybe 3 racquets a week so nothing big i don't mind spending 40 minutes a racquet i'll jus take the machine and place it in front of the t.v, watch some family guy, and string the racquets....
