Hollywood, what Lotto shoes do you wear? The Syn-Raptor Xtreme? I like the green on them, but they look heavy at 16.6 ounces. My Resolutions are a good 2 ounces lighter.

Any place around here to try them out? I hate to buy a shoe without at least trying it on first.
I had the Syn Pulse Raptor 2. Its the same shoe just a different color.

I cant compare to Rez 2. But compared to Rez one there really was no difference in the weight. I honestly dont think you will be dissapointed in them.

I bought mine from the bird and got a 6 month warranty. They have the new ones as well and have the warranty. I got too many shoes to eat through a warranty though.

I live in Falls Church, and am thinking about joining either the YMCA in Arlington or the Four Seasons (closer to my home). I do not make a ton of money, and want a nice and friendly place to play -- I take lessons at the Y now and am very happy with that.

Any thoughts?

If you are happy with the Y, then 'y' change?

I was hoping that some people on this thread might be familiar with one or both of these places.

When I first moved to the DC area I took private lessons at the Arlington Y. I hadn't played tennis in a few years and I wanted to really "jump-start" myself back into the game. It was $80 an hour, or if you paid for 10 lessons up front ($800) then you would get an 11th lesson free, which is what I did.

It's a nice tennis facility, the only problem is that it's ONLY a tennis facility. It is not associated with the gym next door, so all you can do is play tennis and leave. Also, parking can be a real pain in the @ss since they only have like 10 spots and the rest is street parking (which is in a neighborhood). A few times I ended up parking pretty far away.

Ha! "the jerk store called..." /end seinfeld reference.

I heard Lotto is coming this fall to TW US. And Europe should get some more stuff. I am not even thinking about clothes since 1) haven't checked out Xisbum stuff and 2) it's not Nike.

I'm not happy it's taking this long to just find one shirt. How can they build any brand loyalty!

On a side note. There is a kid research test with marshmallows. They put a kid in a room with a marshmallow and tell him/her that she can get a second one if he/she doesn't eat this one by the time she returns.. OR they can just eat that one now. Some studies say how the kid reacts is how the person will be their entire life.

I said this on another thread,... but Sups thoughts:

-Kid Drakulie would have it down his pants before the researcher could explain the rules.

-Kid Topaz would break down in tears waiting for the researcher's return, only to faint from exhaustion.

-Kid Zapvor would ask for the shower and some hot dogs

-Kid Hollywood would whip out his JO dispenser and start chowing down.

-Kid PurePrestige would ask the swingweight of the table and plate and calculate how much lead it would take for it to lean enough to roll the marshmallow into his mouth.

-Kid PPL would ask for fries and a coke.

-Kid Sappy would mcbail on the research, but send an email requesting they mail his marshmallow to him.

-Kid JRS would run around the room yelping like a wookie eagerly awaiting the researchers return.

-Kid Xisbum would be so suspicious of the marshmallow that he wouldn't take it or the second one upon the researchers return.

-Kid TFM would slice and dice the marshmallow and put delicious sauce on it using a hot place and fudge.

-Kid Shcmad would ask if Safin eats marshmallows.

-Kid Magma would still be wearing tinted glasses and calculate the amount of calories.

-Kid Dats would shock the researcher upon her return by having several other varieties of marshmallows in front of him. When the researcher questions why he didnt eat just one.. he would answer "I couldn't make up my mind".

-Kid Auzzie would sweat.

-Kid Han would smack the marshmallow hard on the wall causing a rip in time.

I've played at both the Y and at 4 seasons. While they are both good facilities I have a tendancy to lean toward 4 seasons b/c of the bigger player pool. Also I know for a 1 year membership at 4 seasons it was only $99 and got you reduced prices for lessons/clinics/and reserved court time. Not sure what membership is @ the Y and whats included... although if I remember right they did have a mens 4.0 drill clinic available. Not sure if its still around though.

I believe there is a one time $350 join fee for the Arlington Y, in addition to the $350 per year. I do remember that there are no court fees though from May-October. After that (during the winter) it is $15 an hour. It's not too bad. If I had never met Sup and the rest of the TWMAC gang, I would've joined that club. Condy Rice and Rumsfeld play there.

$350 up front and ea year... intersting. Not bad although not great either. Granted I think the most I've ever paid for a tennis membership was at the Aspen hill Club in Silver Spring, MD. Can't remember exactly but I think i was shelling out $90-125 each month for membership granted that was for gym and tennis membership. Programs there are for members only (wasn't too kosher w/ that) and they were still a bit on the pricy side especially for the 1 night a week advanced drill I did for about a year... Granted the 1 girl from UMD and the other that went to the Naval Academy were fun to play tennis or work out with when they werent at school.
