haha great video, i bet he was a 3.0 though, a solid 4.5 player can at least get the return back at least every once in a while, i played a guy who was all serve once in 4.5s he looked like he fought UFC or something and was super muscular, he said he was clocked over 120mph, it was the fastest serve i've ever faced and i had a blast trying to get them back over, but overall this player in the vid really sucked and i think half of all of us here at tt can do better than that (btw w/that guy i played he won in a tight 3 setter after i saved 3 or 4 match pts in the 2nd set to win it in the breaker, he was this huge 'n rly muscular nigerian dude i was playing in a league)

But something is bound to happen where that person wins a point.
I played a set against a TW poster who said he was a 5.0 and came 2 doublefaults from golden setting him.

Against Federer (Or any other top 20 player I guess), I think the over/under on me would be around 2 points.

Hah I think you are either a bad judge of talent, or are severely underestimating a pros serve. Look at the forehand the guy hits at the end of the video, easy and hard, sure nothing special but telling me that guy is a 3.0 is ridiculous. I think you have zero concept of how good his serve is.

Apart from reality, he wouldn't have put his effort into the play, and I would be putting everything I had, so easily a couple of games, if he plays that long.

I don't think I'd ever even touch his serve.

He might net a few returns off my serve just because it would be so much slower than what he's used to facing...who knows.

"Yeah, sure".

How many points do you think you can take off him? A game perhaps?
Personally, I think I may be able to take him to a deuce or something.

What about you?
I think you need to make it clear to him that the game or set is competitive; not for fun or just casual.

If that is clear to Roger that you want to have him play his best and he feel like playing a game or a set; you will not be able to return his serve since it will either be so fast that you cannot even block it back or if it a spin serve it will go so high, angled and move away fast so that you cannot even get contact with your racket. If you are serving; his returns will be so angled and/or fast; that you will be luck to get within 5 ft of it!

I think in time you might get a 10 points in a 5 set match; but that do to him defaulting his serve and a off hit or two.

So what else are you expecting. Federer asks me for a hit and i say "Dude i am way out of your league. Go find someone else"?. Sorry but i am not doing that. I will play with him. Try my best. If my best doesnt win a single point, so be it-- i atleast tried {not to mention the bragging rights i enjoy of having played with Roger Federer}.

The mentality of "I am going to lose anywayz why bother trying" isnt going to help. Atleast i dont feel that way. Whoever is on the otherside of the net doesnt matter. Go fight, try everything you can and see where it goes. So when some of posters indicated "attack BH" etc, in my opinion, they have some plan and are willing to fight it out.

On paper , yes, I wouldnt win a single point against Federer. But in reality, it wont exactly be true.

Dont believe me? I am ready for challenge. Go and try arrange a match between me and Federer.

^ Maybe you should start a thread about positive thinking. This one is about how we would do against the person many consider to be the greatest tennis player who ever lived. Most people here can't even say they're one of the 20 best players their city has ever produced.

I love reading the strategies though. Those posts are delusional but at least they're on topic.

Mt. Everest was thought of as impossible to climb. Today 10,000 people climb it every year.

How i would do against Federer. I will win a few points here and there. Federer is known to take it a notch down when he plays Exhibition matches and certainly against me because he knows i am not a pro (atleast not yet).

Only chance we would have versus the GOAT is a net-cord shot.

That's all.

Imagine how hard is to hit Sampras's serve?

I'd be happy with a point. Two would be outstanding.

I'm afraid you, me, and everyone on these boards would walk away unhappy then.

Might scrounge up an ace out wide. Random aside, but I'd love to try to return a top ten pros serve.
