Default Rumor:Murray To Adidas, Nole To K-Swiss?

It has been an interesting week for off the court news especially when this time of year is rather quiet. Speculation started that Novak Djokovic is in “serious” negotiations with K-Swiss to wear their clothing in 2010. Shortly after other reports were saying that the German sports giant Adidas was making a push to sign Murray. Earlier this year we covered a similar story of K-Swiss going after Murray but in the end they failed and now it seems they have moved onto to Djokovic. After Nole made the strange move of switching racquet manufacturers at the beginning of 2009 nothing the Serb does should really shock us as he is obviously as much about the money as he is about the tennis and who can blame him. Another factor here is that Djokovic has spoken his displeasure about many of the Adidas shoes he has worn in the past especially during the grass court season where most notably he wore Nike shoes with a whited out swoosh.

Overall, it would not surprise us at all if both players stay put and are using these rumors to possibly increase the price of their current contract with Adidas and Fred Perry, especially given the fact that each player now has their own clothing line with their current manufacturer (Djokovic: Falcon, Murray: A.M.). One thing is for certain, if Adidas were to lose Djokovic to K-Swiss I have no doubt in my mind that they would try very hard to sign Murray as they would no longer have any male player representation in the current top 7.

K-swiss sucks.

Murray SHOULD switch to adidas, his Fred Perry stuff has been looking really boring. But the adidas gear for 2010 looks SO good, Novak really needs to stay with them, plus they gave him his own signature Falcon line, I can't believe he'd switch to K-swiss, a super sucky clothing line in my opinion

Agree. Murray and Djokovic with Adidas = WIN. Then they can compete with Nike with Nadal and Federer.

Nothing has been confirmed though. From the 2010 adidas pics, there is falcon line and new genius'. I have a serious feeling Djokovic will be with Adidas next year.

Andy Murray will switch to adidas... The Murray line should be out in the end of Dec or Jan 2010.

It's a real shame Murray won't be wearing Fred Perry anymore, his Wimbledon and US Open stuff were the nicest i've seen in a very long time. Really classy stuff.

I can't really see him in leopard print shiny Adidas stuff, but I suppose money talks.

that's what I thought too, and they're still calling it the "edge" line which is Nole's falcon gear, so i think the rumor that Nole's leaving adidas isn't true.

I agree, Nole+Murray=win

I can see Murray moving, although i don't particularly like it. To be fair, i'm english and can't stand murray, but still like the Fred Perry stuff he wears, particularly the wimbledon and US polos; however, you can understand the pulling power of adidas. Novak on the other hand is slightly different, i can't really see him leaving his own line for anything less than an equal or greater deal than what adidas is offering him. ie. something only someone like nike can afford, so could be interesting to say the least, but as the rumor has it, he is off, so the question is, to whom and how can they afford Nole?

Yeah i'm a big fan of the stuff he's been wearing recently aswell, i'm pretty certain he will move though. He's been trying to move for some time as the money he is getting at the moment isn't as good as it could be for a top 4 player and there is no shoe contract with Fred Perry.

He's recently moved management teams and it's said one of the biggest reasons for this was to get a new clothing sponsor.

Djokovic is too good for K-Swiss, there biggest names are Tommy Haas and Mardy fish, Novak is out of there league. Djoker should be with either Adidas or Nike.

Or maybe after Murray lost at Wimbledon and the US Open, Fred Perry told him to take a hike?

I forget the effective dates, but he is supposed to be pulling the ripcord on Lacoste and going full Babolat kit. That's annoying. I sort of liked that the frat boy was wearing snobby French gear. Babolat uninspires me in everything other than VS gut.

I would have loved to see Stifler add some more tennis profile to Under Armour. They would be a great fit.

If he's picky about his shoes, he may be going to kswiss just because he likes their shoes, even though they can't pay as much as adidas. A good shoe could really extend the career of a pro, might be a better investment...
